The house is spick and span and we stayed there for 2 nights. The open concept at 2nd floor is refreshing and the fireplace using cones as fire starters is an eye opener. We love the service of Patricia as she treated us like friends. She is an excellent host telling us everything we want to know about attractions in Lake Tekapo. According to her advice, we drove to Astro Cafe up at Mt John, and it was the highlight of our stay.
The view overlooking the dog stature is awesome. We are also within walking distance to the Church. We can even view the stars from Opera House at the balcony.
The only drawback I would say is the weather. It was awfully cold and windy and we are from the tropics and we are not used to the cold.

Room Tip: The opera house is very new and clean but the church house offers a better view.

We stayed at the Studio Unit for two nights during our road trip. My wife and I really enjoyed the visit and wished we could have extended our stay. The unit is well presented and self contained. The location of the unit is exceptional with a fantastic view of the church and lake. Early morning and evening walks to the church and lake is very convenient. Patricia was very helpful and welcoming. We felt the property was excellent and value for money. We definitely will call again in our next visit to Lake Tekapo and will recommend this accommodation to anyone thinking of staying over at the beautiful location.

We stayed in the Aldourie Lodge for our trip. We wished we could have stayed there forever! Big beautiful kitchen, spacious dining and living area, and a quaint library, where you have have a drink and light the fire for a cozy, romantic atmosphere. One bedroom is across from a large bathroom with a tub looking over the garden. The other two bedroom are in their own separate wing with their own bathroom. It was sunny, private and peaceful and just a minute's walk away from the Good Shepherd Church.

I should also mention that the staff were incredibly helpful and provided a lot of great information about the area. I have no complaints and only praise! Will definitely be back to stay!

Room Tip: The Aldourie Lodge is cozy and quaint, with views of the Good Shepherd Church. The Bush House is sle...

We visited this accomodation in the spring of 2013. The hoster has several seperate houses in the same area. Living here makes us feel so peaceful that no other places can be compared with. The room is very spaceful, each house includes a small garden, a library, a bathroom with tub, a bedroom and the living room with a fireplace (using gas, looks safe). For couple like us, it could not be more romantic to live here enjoying the peaceful night and breezy wind here.
From the aspect of location, I can not find more perfect one like this place. It is just a 2-minutes-walk from the Good Shepherds Chapel, and 5-minutes -walk to the town centre. By the way, from this accomodation, after the sky becomes dark when most tourists get home, you can feel it is so beautiful that hard to be described literally. The beatiful dark starry sky and the peaceful night with moonlight , all, become yours.
So, generally, staying here is really a unforgettable memory.
BY The way, the puppy was very cute.....
Thanks.

Room Tip: Not sure because each house has its special traits. All houses are recommended.

We stayed at the 'Top of the Tower' for just one night on our honeymoon around NZ but would have loved to have stayed longer if our itinerary allowed. When we arrived, no-one was about but the keys had been left in the door in anticipation of our arrival so we simply let ourselves in and set about making ourselves at home - that wasn't hard to do as the place was so cosy and welcoming! (We did actually catch up with the manager later that evening when we went on the Observatory Night Tour, as she was helping out in their booking office/shop.) We absolutely loved the location, so convenient and picturesque and we certainly took full advantage of it, with a early morning photo session the next day on the shores of Lake Tekapo. We did find the bed to be on the small side compared to other properties we stayed at, but overall we felt the property was excellent value considering the prime location.

Room Tip: The Top of the Tower gives a great elevated view of the Church and the Lake from the balcony.

Stayed in the Church House at Parkbrae Estate for 3 nights with my husband and son as a halfway stop between Christchurch and Queenstown. Our reservation was handled well over the internet - but it is worth mentioning this is the only place during our 2 week stay on the South Island where the full amount had to be paid on booking. We stayed at only 3 other establishments during our trip and did not pay until we were checking out. Each establishment is entitled to have its own booking conditions but these little things leave an impression.
We found our little house to be very clean, had a well stocked kitchen with complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate and was very warm. The lounge area was large and games supplied for rainy days. Complimentary wifi. The main bedroom was advertised as having a queen bed which we questioned, as to us it was a double. This meant we played musical beds for 3 nights as my husband and I found it way too cosy to sleep together. Luckily the other room had twin beds. We would never book a double bed. For this reason I can not give a higher rating to Parkbrae.
Church House has stunning views over the lake and is close to the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd and the famous "Dog statue". Bus loads of tourists pull in all day long to photograph the church which does not open until 10.am and the statue. We went for many beautiful walks along the lakefront, walked into town- 5 minutes, the boys went skiing at Roundhill and we enjoyed a coffee at the Astro Cafe at the Observatory.
The Manager was extremely personable and very helpful - a real asset. One night we were at dinner in town and she offered us a lift back as we had forgotten our torch - very good service which we appreciated.
I would definitely recommend staying here just be aware the beds may be smaller than what you are use to in your home country and book accordingly.

Our family stayed at the “Garden Cottage” on our annual ski trip! The cottage is every bit as good as it looks in photos-if not better! Set quite literally a stone’s throw from one of New Zealand’s most iconic and most beautiful churches and on the banks of Lake Tekapo-you could not want for a more perfect and prominent location. The blue of Lake Tekapo is stunning-the most pure azure blue you can imagine and this is what you can see from almost every window as you stay in this quaint cottage. The cottage itself is home from home-beautifully decorated –in an almost olde worlde English way. And everything you could want for inside-right down to every piece of kitchen equipment imaginable.
