Visited this little church on my travels to Lake Tekapo and what a little gem perched at the end of the lake. Sit inside and be mesmerised by the view of the blue lake and the snow capped mountains through the window behind the altar. I could have sat there all day and watched the world go by. A place not to be missed if you are in the area.

We visited Lake Tekapo last November during our NZ trip and visited the church. We reached Lake Tekapo around evening when the sun was still shining and thought it was beautiful. The stone and oak church is small but quite old and adds a very nice touch to the already beautiful lake Tekapo. Later we checked into the hotel and after finishing our dinner we had a couple of hours free before going for star gazing at 12.30 AM.. So, we again went to the church around 10 pm and I cannot describe my experience in words. It was the most beautiful scene I have ever dreamed of. We spent the next two hours quietly admiring the church in the moonlight. Thinking of it even after these 10 months creates such a longing in my heart to leave everything and admire the beauty of nature in this place. Must visit this place on a full moon night.

Words cannot describe how worth it is to stop and see this gorgeous little stone and oak church on the edge of the truly remarkable Lake Tekapo. So surreal with the stunning mountain ranges surrounding the lake with the tiny church in the background. Go inside sit in the pew and take in the spectacular view...you will not be disappointed. My fiancé and I loved it there so much that we will marry there this year. Drive around the lake on the right side of the lake and take it all in.

A small however nice church located next to lake Tekapo. Take your camera with you and shoot from the church inside. There is a cross in the middle and through the window behind you will see the lake. Very nice photo!

This is a beautiful little Church with the most beautiful view. If God has windows I am sure the window in the Church of the Good Shepherd is one of them! Not to be missed.
