Stunning church on the shores of Lake Tekapo, people everywhere but came back later in the day and was but quieter...by sunset there were only a few people around and we had a picnic on the beach infront of it. You don't need too long for the visit but its a must do for any one in the area....

Easy access to this site so if in Tekapo you might as well visit the church though it is very small and there is not much else at the location.

Yes, this really is a must visit when in New Zealand. Try to go at sunrise or sunset. To avoid the crowds and to capture the church in the best light. Night picture with the milky way on the background is also possible, if you have the right camera and a good tripod.

Just when you think Lake Tekapo couldn't be more stunning, you stumble across this beautiful church. A small, simply decorated church, it sits perched on the edge of the lake and makes some beautiful photos. The window over the altar is just a simple pane of glass leaving you to focus your attention on the bright blue waters outside. Although there are many tourists going in and out everyone is respectful and it is peaceful inside. There are volunteers watching the church who hand out leaflets explaining the history of the church and selling postcards.
It is truly worth a visit and there is a nice walk up the mountain nearby.
