Avocado Sunset Bed and Breakfast
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 24, 2010

The Avocado Sunset is an outstanding B & B.. We stayed in the Oriental Room (one of four themed suites) which looks out on a garden patio. It has a separate sitting area off the bedroom where you can relax. Two of the four units face SW which affords a view of the beautiful sunsets seen from this mountaintop setting on the slopes of Mt. Tamborine. You look out over rain forest' private gardens with the Great Dividing Range of Australia in the distance. Price included a full delicious breakfast. Cheryl (sp?) and Richard are exceptional hosts. The B & B is well located for day trips to Lamington National Park for walks in the rain forest. Lamington is one hour by car so you can do walks in the am and return to Mt. Tamborine for wine tours and gallery walks in the afternoon. Avocado is without doubt one of the best B & B's we have stayed in.

To anyone wanting to stay with Cheryl and Richard, we say GO FOT IT ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!
we just spent a week there on our honeymoon and it was awesome.
the room was perfect, the view was perfect, the hosts were perfect and OMG the breakfast, TO DIE FOR.
Cheryl and Richard offer their guests a place to stay that feels like you are still at home. they are warm, loving and welcoming to all guests.
our highlight was the breakfasts where all guests would eat together and chat, this is a great start to the day.
We can't wait to go back and we are taking freinds and booking the whole place out.
Please go stay with Cheryl and Richard you wont regret it.

We spent our 1st wedding anniversary at Avocado Sunset, and it was everything we could have hoped it would be. The home is beautifully presented with the rooms a good distance apart separated by the beautiful lounge and dining area where we enjoyed lazing around reading the newspaper, and enjoyed the beautiful breakfast cooked deliciously by Cheryl served (along with informative ideas about things to do in the area) from Richard. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the sweeping veranda watching the spectacular sunset over the valley below. It was a wonderful long weekend in a beautiful location.

Stayed for two nights at the end of January and loved it. We were in the Safari room which is superb. It's an ideal location to go exploring from and great to come back to for a glass (bottle!) of wine on the balcony followed by a soak in that magnificent spa bath! Richard and Cheryl were great hosts - we loved the gourmet breakfast and the chat with Richard about places to visit. Avocado Sunset deserves it's five star rating, it exceeded our expectations.

Wedding anniversary with 4 friends, host was away but ensured us his mother would look after us, we agreed that we would cook our own evening meal and were pleased when the owner offered us the kitchen. However on arrival the place was like a morgue, despite it being winter, no fires were lit and the ambience was non existentent. As soon as we arrived, even before being shown the rooms the mother demanded full payment, our friends felt very uncomfortable.Breakfast, despite being one of the advertised highlights, was awful. No cooked breakfast, just pancakes, cold ham, cheese and cereal. 4 star, your joking, worst B&B ever stayed at!

This review was posted on 1st March 2010 by guests who stayed at Avocado Sunset back in July 2007 - over two and a half years ago. Avocado Sunset was owned and run by another couple at that time.
Richard and Cheryl have owned Avocado Sunset for two years this month and have made great changes and improvements. We provide an amazing hot and cold breakfast every day of the week and have had nothing but great comments on the breakfast, the hosts and the establishment.
We hope that this very old review will not influence any potential guests.

When I rang to book our weekend for 8 with Richard and Cheryl, I knew we have a
very pleasant and enjoyable weekend and we did. They are the most delightful hosts.
Their breakfast was most satisfying and beautifully presented. The accommodation
was extremely pleasant and very private, having complete use of the home - lounge and dining, where we could enjoy our own company or have them join us.
I would recommend Richard and Cheryl's place to everybody. A "Must Do" and Meet
these delightful hosts.
