Avocado Sunset Bed and Breakfast
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 8, 2011

Not sure why I am writing this review as everything said about this b+b has already been said and is completely accurate.
Richard and Cheryl are the perfect hosts , living in the lower floor of this beautiful house they can be at hand or unobtrusive as you wish , providing you with the free run of the huge living/dining room with cd/dvd collection and warming log fire if you need it.
The view is outstanding and the local area offers plenty of opportunities for rainforest walking as well as the more touristy things.
Most reviews here talk about the wonders of the Safari room but as we arrived with no booking and no idea about the rooms available we were more than happy with the Dorset room.
Although at the wrong end of the building for the magnificent view it does have it's own verandah off to the side which gives you wonderful privacy for a bottle of wine whilst watching the sunset , and the facilities in the room are first class.
I guess what I am trying to say is that if the Safari room is already booked you can still have a wonderful time in any of the other rooms.
Richard and Cheryl have got this place just right and although we didn't use the in room dining offered , the breakfast ( oh yes , black pudding available! ) was outstanding.
My only negative ( sorry ) is that local restaurants , although not far , will need a drive but I can see from the other reviews that many people don't bother to leave the house which is entirely understandable.

The reviews are all true. We stayed for two nights with our daughter and son in law and for one night with our son-before his wedding. What a wonderful welcoming B & B. Richard and Cheryl are brilliant hosts, they are warm and friendly and help to make Avocado Sunset the perfect place to stay on the mountain. The views are great, breakfasts, just perfect and the rooms are delightful. So comfortable in fact, that we didn't get to do any of the walks or touristy things we had intended to do. So, I guess that means we must return! Thank you again Richard and Cheryl for helping make our joyous occasion so great.

Thanks for the comments on TripAvisor, it gives Cheryl and I a great sense of satisfaction when our guests enjoy their stay and feel so relaxed!
It is so nice to see a family enjoying their time together at our place! We look forward to seeing you again soon when you may have more time for the walks in our great National Parks on Tamborine Mountain.

Very few times are my expectations met or exceeded. The rave reviews to this beautiful B&B lead me to high expectations of a beautiful, tranquil setting combined with accommodating hosts... and that is exactly what was delivered. We stayed for 3 nights in the Safari Room and I can honestly say that I could have spent the whole 3 days sitting in our double spa looking out to the breathtaking mountains, or on the balcony with a bottle of wine at sunset. The lounge is just as inviting with full glass doors allowing you to continue to gaze at the sunset or early morning sunrise if the weather is a little colder. The peaceful music playing in the background makes you want to float for the remainder of the day. The Safari room is spacious and has attention to detail... Richard and Cheryl have thought of everything – cutlery, glasses, refreshments and even lovely white gowns to fall into after your spa. I would be happy to return during the winter months with your own private fire place roaring. Cheryl cooks a delicious breakfast to your liking which is garnished with the most creamiest avocados from their backyard.. not to mention the scrumptious homemade preserves which during our stay, were awarded 1st prize in the local show. Richard and Cheryl are very friendly and welcoming... I don’t think I have ever met a family who are more suitable to host your holiday. A deep thank you for a wonderful time and we hope to return again soon. Kristi & Nik

Tell everyone - this is a most beautiful, quality place to stay - none better on Tamborine Mountain. Stunning, panoramic mountain views -truly majestic on sunset. Just beautiful, top quality accommodation- superb quality in every detail; and a sumptuous breakfast to die for. Hosts are the kind of lovely, caring and kind people you would just love as your family members or next door neighbor. Totally delightful and restful experience - if you value a beautiful place, this is a must do!

10 friends spent 2 nights in heaven at Avocado Sunset. The ambience of the B+B, the magnificent setting, the fabulous hosts and beautiful food made our weekend one to remember. You don't really need to leave the B+B for 2 whole days. It is so comfy and lots of books and DVDs to keep you entertained. The bedrooms are beautiful with everything you need in the bathrooms, including spa baths!

We will be back. Thank you Cheryl, Richard and David

This was an amazing experience. We actually stayed at another Hotel in Mount Tamborin and while we were driving around and looking for a nice view, (We stayed in a tree house ;-)) we found the BB from Cheryl and Richard.
We stopped by and tried to see if someone was at home. They were very welcoming and showed us all rooms. Sadly the Safari room with an real fire oven was booked. So we decided to stay in the other "spa room" or so. (I forgot the name lol)
It was super nice. We had a bottle of Champagne in the HUGE bath tub and enjoyed the view, the sound of nature and the birds...
I recommend the sunset!
What can I say, the house is eco-friendly, self-sufficient and in the same time more luxury than some condos. Water quality is better than in Singapore and Avocados and eggs are harvested in the huge backyard.

All the best to Cheryl and Richard. Keep the awesome quality up and make more people happy like you made our holiday.

Cheers
Best regards from Singapore
