Very rarely do we have a "shocker" with accommodation = this certainly was it and now after the fact in reading the "faulty towers" review from september 2012 I wished I had checked Tripadvisor first.
I too was enticed to stay at the Manor by the marketing material's description of the accommodation. I didn't have a lot of options according to the Tamborine Mountain Visitors website - only 2 places had 1 room available. So I agreed to staying ath Bungunyah for 1 night including breakfast.
This was to be our first night without our little one - so a little bit of romance, after attending our wonderful friend's wedding being held on the Mountain.
I must say we did laugh, it was a total shocker to be honest. We did re-read the "marketing" material that is in triplicate in various forms in the information folder in the room (clearly they provide copies of the same story with a different slant - e.g. whether the interior decoration was based on Louis XV or Victorian style with a bit of Australiana!).
At least our bed was comfortable even if we strained to see the very small TV down in the sunken seating area!!
But the worst was possibly the continental breakfast.
My definition of "continental" includes cold meats, and cheeses, with bread and in some cases at least Eggs.
There was none of those offered - very very bad Bircher Museli (where was the museli in it - more puffed/whipped cream), chef's yoghurt that didn't have any of the "tang" expected from yoghurt, very tough biscuity like Crossiants (this from what we heard was a french restaurant), brown over ripe bananas, and coffee (agree with the review from September) that was over stewed, accompanied by hot water that wasn't hot.
At least they had peanut butter to have on our toast to fill up on (toast that was cold by the time it got to the table!!!).
I also wouldn't recommend staying here - other than the fact that it is in a great location to experience the touristy Gallery Walk or for an emergency accommodation only.
It certainly will make for a funny story of our first night away without our baby.
