“Very nice!”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

We stayed in this hotel because it was close to the airport. We just got back from San Pedro and needed a little break from the heat. The hotel cost us 100$, which is good price for what was included. We stayed in San Pedro in a cabana with nothing and payed the same price. Javier, the manager that set us up with the room was very friendly and spoke English. A smile goes a long way. It was a very pleasant experience!
We went for lunch right at the hotel, i found it was a little pricy, but the food was very good, especially desserts and the service was impecable. We had Celinda and Paola as our servers. They were a good competition for any north american restaurants. I`ve never had such a good service in Chile, and it was my 3rd time there.
Supper was good, but the service was ordinary. They tried, but they just didnt know how. Also i ordered congrio and got served tillapia, like i dont know anything about fish. So that was dissapointing. Other than that, the whole experience at this hotel was overall great. I`ve read the reviews from previous years and they obviously have improved.

I disagree with previous remarks from travellers. We arrived in Calama from San Pedro and found this to be a great hotel, considering the choices. Meals and breakfast were very good and the services was prima! We paid in US dollars and since we had a Canadian passport, did not have to pay IVA. Something to consider for Chileans who have dual citizenship while travelling in Chile. We highly recommend taking a day trip to Caspana and Chiu Chiu. while the roads may be a bit difficult , it is worth the trip. make sure to travel with a Copec Map ( they can be purchased at any Copec Gas station.
If the plan is to continue to San Pedro and travellers are considering taking day trips ( very doable) in the area, we would like to highlight that Sernatur in town ( San Pedro) will give good advice, even though on one ocassion we had the feeling they did not encourage travelling without guides to support business . Be aware that Road Signs in San Pedro and evirons have been altered to confuse independant travellers. We had a regular car while doing day trips and were able to climb up to 4.500 with some degree of difficulty, but made it .

Room Tip: This hotel was a great surprise, as we were not planing to stay in Calama.

Hotel and rooms were cute, clean, decor was slightly rustic. I didnt find any problems with the hotel and they could speak a bit of English, just enough to get by. As stated, if you pay with USD you dont have to pay the 19% sales tax in Chile so that's a great discount. Staff was very polite room was well equipped and quiet. I couldn't find the AC control only a heater on the wall so I had to open the window to chill it to the refrigerator temperature I prefer. There aren't many hotel choices in Calama or Chile for that matter. If you are flying in and dont want to go searching for a good hotel this is your #1 choice since its so close to the Airport. I would stay there again.

We arrived late at night in Calama and wanted to stay one night there before heading to San Pedro the Atacama the next morning.,
The hotel is located 3 minutes from the airport.
The rooms are average at best. They are quite dark and look a bit dated.
Breakfast was rather poor and only the pineapple had some taste.
The fitness centre was non-existent (due to renovation I suppose).
At least WiFi was free of charge.
I guess you can't expect much more if you intend to stay in Calama (that's why I still give it 3 stars) and it's alright for one night. Just make sure you don't spend your entire holiday here.

We stayed in this hotel for an overnight before heading of to Tierra Atacama. Be warned - take one of the taxis lined up outside the airport there are not many and they go quickly. Four of us got in with all our luggage in the trunk held in place with bungie cords. The driver charged exactly what was shown in the airport and when we tried to give him extra for all the work with our luggage he refused! He finally accepted with a clap on the back. The hotel is fine for a one night stay although I got the feeling that we were in a compound (you couldn't walk around outside except for a central garden that had a pool). All the doors were locked. Room was okay, the halls were a bit dark. Breakfast was fine.

The hotel offers quick in and out from the airport but don't rely on the staff to pick you up. We needed a taxi despite assurances to the contrary. The room was fine - clean and comfortable - and the buffet dinner was very good indeed. We arrived in the early evening and the woman at the reception desk spoke/understood virtually no English and we were forced to communicate via our limited Spanish and Google translate. Although she agreed to make a call for us to our hotel in San Pedro, she didn't and we didn't find out until the next day. Moreover, she failed to give us a message which had been delivered before we checked in. We got that the next day from the morning reception staff who were in fact helpful and spoke some English. Overall the hotel is fine but service is spotty; I would recommend only for those looking for one night's accomodation near the airport and having some command of Spanish.

Positives: plenty of hot water, okay shower with bath, quiet room and dark, good selection of tv channels, standard breakfast and wifi in receptionist areas.

Negatives: rooms are very dated, smelly. Bathroom needs a good scrub. Bed linen gave me rashes, no safe in the room, taxi from airport ripped me off (as I am a gringo). Depends on staff, but best to have good spanish.
