Finding the Hand of God restaurant after 2 weeks in Argentina was a dream come true. We were so tired of the same exact menu at every single restaurant we went to, with very slow service, and mediocre wine. First off the wine tasting was one of the greatest ever. I'm based in SF, so I'm used to wine tastings in Napa Valley where 3 out of the 4 wines are more suited to polishing silver. At HOG, all the wines were exceptional, the pours were generous, and the servers were knowledgeable. While there were steaks and burgers on the menu we decided to share some appetizers. The food was beautiful, tasty, balanced, and went perfectly with the wine. Our first meal was so great that we decided to return the next day. We had two of our best meals in Argentina, in their beautiful patio and would highly recommend this restaurant and the wine.

We stumbled upon Hand of God after 48 hours of straight travel - we were tired, hungry and sleep deprived. Our experience at Hand of God totally changed our moods - we were treated to an absolutely delicious lunch, made fresh to order, a flight of high quality wines with really generous pours, and great conversation with our waiter about the wines in the area and tasting notes. The food was tasty and vegetarian-friendly - which is saying a lot in Argentina! The setting was relaxing and we were able to sit and enjoy our meal for a few hours before heading back to our hotel. I'd definitely

Our dinner with local Mendoza (Argentine) friends on a rainy Saturday night was very pleasant, and the three diners who ordered the sirloin steak raved about the quality. My own chicken breast in mustard sauce was good, but not great. Because of the rain, we could not experience the patio, which makes up the main dining area. The indoor area is really a wine tasting room, not set up for a lot of diners, so space was a bit cramped. Chef Guillermo was very attentive. He offered excellent service (in the absence of a waitress) and when he found we have an interest in vinegar and olive oil, offered us tastings of his own house versions. Visitors should realize that this is not an all-púrpose tasting room with wines from a large selection of local bodegas. It is designed to showcase the wines of Hand of God and Achaval-Ferrer, both made by top winemaker Santiago Achaval. The options include flights, wine by the glass and bottles and tend to be a bit on the pricey side for Mendoza, with several around $50 or twice as much.
However, this is a chance to try some of Mendoza's absolutely most-garlanded wines, in a pleasant atmosphere, and at prices lower than they would be outside Argentina. All in all, we enjoyed the evening and will go back, My reason for awarding four stars instead of five in some of these categories is that the food really was not on the same creative level (and options were many fewer) than at Mendoza's really top restaurants.

We had such a tasty experience at Hand of God yesterday we returned today for another memorable lunch. Best food we have had after two weeks in Argentina. All the food and menus are more of less the same but this food really stood out as being fresh and flavorful. The setting is relaxing and comfortable and Angelo and his staff are friendly, knowledgable and attentive. Try the chips, dips and olives to start out. The eggplant capanada was clean, bright and perfect for a hot summer day. The salad with poached egg, jamon crudo and caramelized onions was delicious and satisfying. The tomato, mozzarella, basil flatbread was fresh and seasonal.
Besides the amazing food, staff and service the wine tasting was incredible. We tried two wines from Hand of God and two wines from the wine maker, Santiago who is an award winning wine maker. The staff coursed out the wine tasting and label the glasses so we could remember what we were tasting. I would highly recommend a visit if you are looking for an unique food and wine experience.
