“King and Queen Vacation!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2011

We had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks at El Panorama de la Peñita. This was our very first big trip, therefore we were excited, but both very nervous. Since the moment we made our reservations, the owners Paul and Tom (both originally from N.B.) made our worries go away. They are very friendly, humorous and very knowledgeable about the area. They first greeted us at the airport, took us on some day trips and definitely went out of their ways to make us feel like a King and Queen. We greatly enjoyed their company and great conversations.
There are lots of things to see and do around the area. Each day, we enjoyed different activities or went down to the beautiful beach at a walking distance. We could also relax at their magnificient pool on top of the roof layout mansion with a lovely view of the mountain on one side, and town and ocean on other side. The pool area also included a barbecue, a bar, a restroom and shower for your own convenient.
Everything at the Villa is above standard! Each morning we were served with a hot homemade breakfast which was always delicious and nutritious. The accommodations were excellent, gorgeous rooms, extremely clean, quiet and make you feel just like home. The price was very reasonable and we wouldn’t hesitate to return again one day or recommend others to stay at this luxurious Bed & Breakfast. We had an amazing stress free vacation that we will never forget. We are planning to return in a few years for a longer stay . Abel & Louise, Moncton, NB Canada

Spent a full month at this serene beautiful place. The hosts are great and will ensure you have the best of stay. We were looking for a clean facility in a quiet location in Mexico and were lucky to have found and enjoyed such a place. If you are looking for a vacation away from an inclusive resort and look forward to some privacy and relaxation, then this is the perfect spot.

If you are looking for a non-resort authentic Mexican vacation with exceptional accommodations, El Panorama Hotel (it's actually a palatial like B&B) in La Penita, Mexico is the place for you.

Rent yourself a vehicle and head north on highway 200 until you come to La Penita, about 1 hour from the Puerto Vallarta airport. You can't get lost, its straight north on the only major highway from the airport. While it's not absolutely necessary, we rented a 4x4 and found the height helpful on some of the more rugged cobblestone streets.

Tom & Paul, the owners and operators of El Panorama Hotel were helpful with our pre-vacation E-mail questions. Upon arrival (they offer an airport pick-up service if you don't wish to rent a vehicle) they were there to welcome us and answer our initial questions about what to do and where to go on the first unfamiliar evening. Their hospitality and generosity continued throughout our weeklong stay. They were quite helpful with restaurant suggestions, area orientation, nearby activities and brochures and even offered to guide and take us on a few more remote locations at our request including the Petroglyphs in nearby AltaVista. When we wanted to go to the beach, they supplied us with towels, beach chairs, coolers and umbrellas.

As for the accommodations, we began to refer to it as "The Palace" after the first day. The home is majestic, immaculately maintained and simply elegant. Our bedroom featured the most comfortable King Size bed you can imagine, a huge walk in closet and beautiful bathroom, two huge balconies, one facing east for the sunrise over the Sierra Madres Mountains and one facing west for the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Despite this, we often spent the evenings watching the sunset from the rooftop patio which includes a pool, BBQ area, kitchen with sink and a refrigerator. There are two open air but covered gazebos with lounging chairs also. As the home is located on the highest hill of La Penita the rooftop patio is completely secure and very private.

We chose a full breakfast with our accommodations. Tom prepared us a different delicious full breakfast each day along with the most aromatic delectable locally grown coffee. On this visit, breakfast always included some yogurt with granola, fresh cut fruit, bagel, juice and homemade jams. Each day there was also a different preparation of eggs such as eggs benny, quiche, scrambled and omelettes along with bacon most of the time. It was always served on the back outdoor patio. What a great way to start the day. Once breakfast was done, we always found our bed made and the room refreshed along with clean towels.

La Penita is a wonderful authentic Mexican fishing town of 8000 where most businesses slow down for siesta from late afternoon to early evening. Before and after that however it's a vibrant town where you can enjoy a safe walk through the streets, do some shopping and get a bite to eat. It is a full service town with bank, post office and daily bus services to neighboring towns and Puerto Vallarta if again you don't wish to rent a car. People are very polite and friendly just as they were in every town we visited. The Market in the town plaza every Thursday is something you should not miss. It has a few hundred vendors, some local, some coming from as far as 200 miles away or more to sell their handcrafted products. Whether you are a good barterer or not, you'll still come away with some great deals. You will find everything there from fresh local produce, carvings, crafts, clothing, and jewelry just to name a few. Bring an appetite also as you will have many vendors selling you a variety of delicious and authentic Mexican fair.

We chose to rent a vehicle so we could explore the neighboring villages and towns at our pace and convenience. Sayulita was the furthest we visited, about 30 minutes south towards Puerto Vallarta. Along the way, you'll find San Francisco, Lo de Marcos, Monteon and Guayabitos which is a neighboring town to La Penita sharing the same bay. Unlike La Penita which is directly on highway 200, all these towns/villages are a short drive to the east of highway 200 and all have beautiful sandy beaches.

While we enjoyed every aspect of our vacation, the accommodations and our host were the jewel of the trip. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to visit this area.ave beautiful sandy beaches.

My family and I stayed at the El Panorama hotel in La Penita, where my sister lives. Tom and Paul were amazing hosts and their "hotel" was equally amazing. It was a dream trip for all of us. The top floor, pool area has by far the most beautiful view in town - overlooking the ocean and even my sister's house!! We spent a LOT of time there. The beaches around La Penita were equally amazing - we went to a different one every day. Tom and Paul were so helpful with restaurants and sightseeing destinations, and they loaned us equipment like boogie boards, umbrellas and chairs so we'd be comfortable where ever we went!! They also fixed the most amazing breakfast every single day - it was a great way to get started. The weather was equally amazing - we were there in December and it was in the 80's. We're from Alaska so it was about a 120 degree difference for us. Loved every minute of it and plan to return, again and again. You could not go wrong visiting the Mexican Riviera - so glad my sister settled there!!

All of the reviews of this place speak for themselves. Tom and Paul are the best hosts you will ever meet. They offered us their car to drive and we had only been there one day. I'm not saying you can use their car........ but for hosts to make you feel like family in one day. When was time last time someone at a hotel or B&B ever offered a car? I think this act speaks for itself and for the kind of guys these hosts are. We will never stay anywhere else in La Penita as a matter of fact we wouldn't stay in PV at all if a room here was avail. and it takes a hour to get here from PV but It is well worth the drive. Just come for the Thurs. market and you will be sold on the town and the people.

My husband, Tom, and I stayed here for a full week - how we wish we could have stayed longer! Paul & Tom were the best hosts ever - the continental breakfast was huge, the bed SO comfortable, the views spectacular. It was a true getaway in the most beautiful town with many nice little restaurants, friendly locals and tourists. We lazed reading on the rooftop with a gentle breeze. Lots of nice areas to walk; and catching the market on Thursday was a treat. Tom & Paul picked us up at the airport and returned us. It was the most stress free vacation we've ever had. We're going back!!!!!

My wife Simone and I stayed two nights at this Bed & Breakfast on the 15th and 16th
of february 2011 and we will never forget this experience. The hosts Paul and Tom
made us feel very special and helped us a lot during our stay. The breakfasts served
on a beautiful terrace surrounded by flowering plants and palm trees were fantastic
and the servings so generous that we skipped lunch. The room was beautifully furnished
in mexican style and a patio door led to a balcony with a view of the valley and the
mountains. The suites have a wonderful view of the little town below and the sea.
On the roof there's a nice pool, tables and chairs with umbrellas.Guests can put
their beer in the fridge of this roof bar.The view is (to die for!) because the hotel
is on the highest point in town. We wil return.
