I couldn't be happier - my husband and I tried multiple local restaurants in the Carolina area and none really impressed us until we walked into this cozy restaurant. We were immediately greeted by the owner, who was so warm and jolly. We ordered a 1/2 pitcher of sangria (delicious), the chicken gizzard turnover/empanadas (so good with their homemade hot sauce), the chicken stuffed plantains, and the kan kan pork chops. Everything was incredible and authentic. The staff was so nice and attentive, and the owner played guitar and sang Puerto Rican music during our entire meal. Every so often, he would toast "Salut!" to all of us in the restaurant as if we're all one big family. My husband and I felt so welcome and had a blast listening to the music and enjoying the whole experience. If we're ever back in PR again, we will return to El Estribo!
