“Nice place, so-so service”

My husband and I spent 5 days in the hotel (before and after our Caribbean cruise) and we have mixed feelings about the place. Our room, the restaurants and the hotel area – including the beach and the pool – were clean and by all means OK, but we have serious reservations about the service standards offered. The greatest unpleasantness encountered upon arrival are Reception Desk clerks. With few exceptions they are slow, incompetent and unwilling to help. There is always heavy traffic in the Desk zone so guests need to line up waiting patiently for assistance.The Concierge Desk is very much the same. With that kind of treatment one does not feel a welcome guest. Some of the waiting staff are not amicable either, although once they get to know you better they become nice to very nice. Le Zawag restaurant is very good but closed Sundays and Monday evenings. Some knowledge of French is indispensable, otherwise it is impossible to communicate with most of the staff.

Room Tip: No need to get tempted by higher rate ocean view rooms as not much of the ocean can be seen through...

Stayed for 11 nights together with my wife, my brother and my parents.

Let me start by stating that if you are not able to communicate in French, you will have a hard time at the hotel - luckily my wife and father speak some, so we where able to survive, but most written material around the hotel is only in French (including menus in the restaurant) and you are very lucky if you find a person in the reception/bar/restaurant/etc. who can speak some English.

The facilities around the hotel is generally good, and we especially enjoyed the beach, the pool and the zewag restaurant (the only restaurant in the complex besides the morning/evening buffet). However, it is difficult to connect to the Internet in the rooms. With my iPad or iPhone I was not able to locate any wifi in the room during my entire stay, and only my brother managed to get a week signal to his laptop.

Worst experience in the complex was however the concierge service. Through the concierge we booked some diving trips, which included pick up and drop of at the beach by the hotel. The pick up and drop of was something that the concierge highlighted and as this was very convenient for us, we signed up and payed quite some money. However, we where only picked up on the beach the first out of three days and not dropped of by the hotel once! The dive master explained us that they normally don't do this service, as the boat has difficulties going to the beach by the hotel and he could not understand how the hotel could have promised us this service!
So, instead of the promised service we had to spend a lot of extra time and trouble on transport, and consequently we wanted some of our money back, as we didn't get the service we where promised. This however was not that easy, as the concierge refused and not until after some discussions, we where offered a maximum €5 discount as the concierge otherwise would "lose her profit". This we thought was ridiculous, as it was les than 1% of the amount we paid, and instead we left being VERY disappointed with the service.

So, watch out for the concierge, she is only focused on her profit - not on helping the guests!

The property grounds are nice and the beach and swimming pool set up is attractive. The bar service is good and so is breakfast with many choices of breads, pastries, cold cuts, different juices, and hot choices. Sitting outside for breakfast is a great way to start the day, Reception staff is slow. You might stand in line for a long time before they acknowledge your existence. Air conditioning in the room not working properly. Room is basic but very clean and it has a flat screen tv and plenty of closet space. Bathrooms are renovated and clean. No Internet in the rooms. You must purchase a one hour or three hour coupon from the front desk and use your computer in the public areas or by the pool/beach. Mostly French guests and very few children during my stay.

The service is crap.....It starts in the reception where you have to be lucky to catch a smile, but you soon realize its better than the other way around where they only smile but offers no help. Nobody speaks english at this hotel and from Gladdys(only english speaking personel) (The trip/tourist guide) to the jetski rentout its just seems to be there job to scam people.
I have different stories about almost every service station at the hotel, from the bartender asking me "do you have a problem" when wanting my change back, to te jeskti rentout lady who is the most arrogant women i have ever came across in my life.
I havent received cleaning in my room for 3 nights (out of 12) even though I have paid for it. When complaining to the reception they just say it will be fixed, but nothing happens.
Location, rooms,Pool/beach and the restaurent La Zawag are highlights of this place , but the generelt low service and high prices (Pizza at the beach:15 dollars, 1 hour internet: 8 dollars) makes this a place i Wouldnt receomend to noboby.

Unfortunately I spent one night only in this resort and couple of hours the mornin after. I did not enjoy the activities neither the restaurant but the resort itself is really nice!! Rooms are large, confortable and clean! Nice swimming pool and a peaceful beach! Breakfast amazing! I recommend it!

While this may not set the world of jetset travelers on fire, it is a nice little hideaway for a mellow and relaxing time. I traveled to Guadeloupe for business and it worked out fine. The internet is on a strange 1 Hr / 3 Hr billing cycle and you gave to go to the front desk every time, but that's the only inconvenient I had.

Staff is friendly and accommodating, taxis are always in hand and also friendly. I could see myself coming back for a few days worth of down time.

Spent a week lazing by the beach and pool. Rooms are airconditioned and comfortable with a minikitchen (limited capacity and scope).
Food was very good but expensive by N American standards.
Beautiful, clean pool.
Small private beach.
15 minutes from airport but difficult to find. Need to rent a car to enjoy the beaches and sites of Guadeloupe - the hotel is a little isolated from everywhere.
It is a piece of France - staff are very friendly but do not speak much English. Small Creole restaurants near the casino are worth a visit for the experience.

We apologize that you had difficulties to find the hotel on your way from the Airport. Please feel free to ask our Concierge Service for a full itinerary guide next time you come.

The central location of the hotel allows you to visit both sides of Guadeloupe: Grande-Terre and Basse-Terre. It is also close to Pointe-à-Pitre port where you can take the boat to visit our other islands like Les Saintes or Marie-Galante. Guadeloupe is not a small island and it is essential to rent a car to be more autonomous and discover our beautiful patrimony.
