Everything was great and the service was tailored for our group. The accomodation and rooms were great for our needs and the location was ideal for access to the Cairngorms. Pity about the weather. I'd like to thank Richard and Patricia for a great stay. Only minor detail was the drying room and showers being cool at times but all in all i'd advise anyone looking for location, great hospitality and a great spot to get away from it all, to book now !

Room Tip: Book early.

Many thanks Charlie for taking the time to review Nethy Station.
I must apologise for the drying room being cool at times. We shall investigate that and thanks for bringing it to our attention. We pride ourselves on our drying rooms, I think the one at Abernethy Bunkhouses - Nethy House may be the biggest there is! Therefore it is important that we get it right. Thank you. See you again another time I hope. Cheers

We used Abernethy Station Bunkhouse as a 'Rest Stop' during our WolfTrek walking event from Forres to Cairngorm Mountain. The facilities were perfect to service our weary walkers and the location provided great access to Abernethy Forest and the Cairngorms. The friendly owners are a fountain or knowledge and made everything very easy for us!

We - 52 German students and four teachers - were hosted by Patricia and Richard Eccles in Nethy House. The trip was perfect for our school group. The itniery Richard developed for us was perfect for kids of that age group. Nethy House gave the kids plenty to do and the surrounding area offered a great variety of outdoor activities. Our hosts made the trip a real experience for the kids and the kids were able to gain a lot of insight on different topics - a very, very good school trip and an easy location to handle for teachers! We will be back - I'm sure!!!

Thank you for your kind comments Steffen. It is nice to know that Richard's advice is appreciated. He has been doing this for a long time and can often plan trips in the Highlands that can save money, time and hours in a bus!

Had my friends stag in nethy station! Was brilliant! Place is perfect! Got a keg of beer from local brewery, great BBQ and had a nice fire too. Open space around for kick about and plenty of room indoors for cards when the rain comes.

The owners are great people up for a laugh.

Will be back!

A group of 18 French students,2 teachers and a coach driver stayed in Nethy House for 3 nights at the beginning of June. The accommodation was great, spacious and comfortable-the students were 6 per room and the adults in single rooms-plenty of toilets and shower facilities for all of us and for much larger groups. There is a big practical dining room and a cosy games/leisure room with snooker, darts and a piano-perfect after a couple of beers at the local pub just opposite.
We opted for full-board which was the perfect solution for our busy days in the region. The meals were good and excellent value for money. The evening meal prepared by Patrica was brought to the house by Richard, our charming host with a great sense of humour, food was piping hot and all dishes went back almost licked clean.Breakfast was simple but plentiful ( tea and coffee making facilities on hand 24 hours a day ) and lunch was of picnic supplies, perfect for our needs.
On our last evening Richard organised a surprise Scottish evening, greatly appreciated by us all, complete with piper, haggis and a wee dram, and a lesson on how to dance a Scottish reel.We spent a fun evening which we will remember for a long time.
Before our arrival Richard and Patrica were very helpful, giving me suggestions and advice about educational nature and environmental visits for the students.Richard was a great help and organised a visit to the Glenlivet estate and distillery,a guided walk in Abernethy Forest with an RSPB guide and a visit to the osprey hide. Each of these was very interesting and we left the area with a lot of knowledge about the faune and flora which was one of our main objectives in coming to Scotland.Richard was also very helpful in giving us the local weather forecast and providing maps for a walk in the local area.He was able to answer our questions about the region and took the time to converse with the students too, which for them,non-English speakers was a great opportunity to practise the language.
In conclusion excellent accommodation for groups, lovely, friendly, helpful hosts and a very beautiful region of Scotland.

I am so glad that you enjoyed your trip so much, Ragamuffin! We are here to help and we know that our old properties are aging and tiring, but we aim to make sure that your trip is as smooth as possible to make up for that! I have to admit that you did only fill half the space - big groups over 50+ can be a bit cosy!

The Abernethy Bunkhouse was a great facility for our group! It was my sister's Hen Weekend and there were roughly 13-15 of us staying in the Station House which had plenty of room for us all. Richard and Patricia (owners) were brilliant from the very beginning of our stay, providing us with all the relevant information and making us feel really welcome!
Even if we didn't have other activities planned, the bunkhouse would have been great to just stay in for the whole weekend.

Would definitely recommend...

First of all, a big thank you to Richard and Patricia for making booking this so incredibly straightforward. We stayed in the old Station, a fantastic building (with a cupboard leading to Narnia - seriously) and the platform makes a great place for a barbecue too!

Everyone had a great time, and we'll definitely be back at some point if we can. Can't recommend it enough.
