After a long day of driving and then doing laundry in Inverness our arrival at the Kiltearn House (only 15 minutes from Inverness) was most welcome. It started with tea in the drawing room, followed by a wonderful lamb dinner prepared by our hosts. We'd recommend having dinner at the Kiltearn because of the distance from town.

Lin and Paul are gracious hosts and excellent cooks. We stayed in a spacious garden apartment at the rear of the house. It was very well-appointed and comfortable. The WI-FI connection at Kiltearn House works quite well, and we were able to catch up on email, etc, while there.

We only wish that we'd had more than one night available on our schedule. Kiltearn House would make a wonderful base for exploring all of the northern Highlands. That's what we will do next time.

We highly recommend Kiltearn House with no hesitation.

My collegue and I stayed for two nights as a base for our ornithological survey work in the area. What a great place with lovely, spacious and well equipped rooms. Paul and Lin were very welcoming and full of useful and interesting information regarding the area. With the Cromarty Firth on the doorstep an interesting selection of birds and other wildlife were noted, in particular an Osprey which was fishing offshore at 22:00hrs as the light faded followed by brief views of an Otter and Common Seals, all in the space of 20 minutes on our first evening. The shoreline towards the A9 roadbridge across the firth is a great place to see the latter species as they haul out close on the shoreline close to the main A9 road. Here as well is a good place to see both Arctic Tern and Common Terns. The garden of Kiltearn House hosts species such as Eurasian Treecreeper and Eurasian Tree Sparrow. All in all a great place to stay and explore the wildlife of the area. Pity we didn't have longer...

Kiltearn House was an amazing stay. We had one of the rooms that looked out over the Cromarty Firth, which was sunny and bright. The bed was gorgous with fluffy quilts and pillows which were amazing after a long day of travel. Kiltearn is a great place to explore the area from- make sure you don't miss the little church down the road as it's a beautiful walk in the evening.

The house is a bit tricky to get to, but with the instructions we were given it was easy enough to find. If you're not used to small Scottish roads, it can be an adventure!

We were very well looked after with excellent food and a lovely comfortable room. I would recommend Kiltearn House if you are looking for a relaxing break with great food. A day of fishing with the local Ghillie was also organised for us that was great fun.

Just back from a four day visit to Kiltearn House along with my Sister, Mother and husband.
As previous reviews have stated the hosts Paul & Lin go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
The food is of the finest quality and cooked to perfection.
The rooms and house in general were spotlessly clean and well maintained. The surrounding area is beautiful and Paul was very helpful in giving suggestions on what to see.
Would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone.

My father and I very much enjoyed out stay at Kiltearn House. Upon arrival we were welcomed by our hosts Lin & Paul with a hot pot of tea, freshly baked biscuits served in a cosy sitting room (heated by a wonderful cole range).

All meals were delicious, Lin & Paul did say they sauced all ingredients locally - which is why I would say everything was so fresh and tasty. My favourite breakfast dish would have to be the kippers, I could not go past them! We also enjoyed a wonderful goose breast on rocket with olive oil & balsamic vinegar accompanied by a yummy mango preserve as an evening entrée.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable and there is also a small office with high speed internet access for guests - which I loved!

Many thanks,
Megan & Raymond Alison

April 2007 was my third stay at the Kiltearn. First time was on my own travelling on business. I wish it was for longer than one night !!
Subsequently I have stayed on a a further two occasions with my wife. The welcome couldn't have been warmer.
The bedroom furniture and fittings are of the highest quality and Lin & Paul are two of the finest hosts you could meet.
Nothing is too much trouble and the food is fantastic !!
Finest quality, cooked to perfection.

Give it a try, you'll love it. I know I'll be back as soon as I can.
p.s. the scenery isn't bad either.
