No staff, just a receptionist. Our room, was a hike...58 steps, and several hallways. The bathroom was small with peeling paint. The details that make a place special were missing...the four poster bed had unfinished draperies, the light fixture over the bed was very hard to reach and turn on..but it did not work...so reading was difficult. The wifi didn't work very well, and the food was okay, but better in the bar. The bed was lumpy and so were the pillows.

Room Tip: Do not stay here unless you need to be in the area.

Having had a terrible experience with a poor Bar supper some months ago and vowing then we would never return, last night we decided to try the Tulloch castle again thinking it could never be so bad as it was so many months ago, how wrong we could be, we have eaten in many places in our time but this place ranks as the worst place ever, it is obvious that the place is being run on a shoestring with the same person serving the bar and waiting on the tables, as for the food it is obvious that there is not a qualified or even part qualified chef as the food is unimaginative and poorly cooked and presented. Steak Knife could not cut the steak, the peppercorn sauce was like water with mustard added no sign of peppercorns which we finally got 3/4 through our meal, and as for the chips they were reconstituted mashed potatoes made to look like chips.
Don't go there if you want a decent meal

I stay here quite often for work trips. No, it is not like a Premier Inn or similar; if you want that, stay in Inverness. It is a unique ancient castle. So yes, the rooms are all different sizes and shapes, and many are up a lot of stairs. So you should ALWAYS ask for someone to carry your luggage, before you start looking for your room. All the rooms are comfortable and in my experience, always clean, with lovely high quality cotton bedding.. Many are gloriously spacious. The water is always hot. The breakfasts are good - just ask for whatever you want . I suggest you take dinner in the bar - cheap and cheerful, nice and cosy, food is basic but plentiful bar food. The bar staff are always kind and friendly, though the kids need training! the receptionist with the nails needs to remember to smile. Otherwise it is a fine place!

First, for those who are looking for the Hilton, the Sheraton, or the Waldorf, you are in the wrong place! This IS a Castle! This was a great experience for us because we had no expectations of flat screen TV's, wi-fi, a spa or any of the creature comforts that one would expect in the "chain hotels". If you truly want to experience a castle stay in a country setting, this is the place for you. The staff are wonderful, the food was excellent. We would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for the 4-poster room. they only have a limited amount, and the book rather quickly!

My wife and I had high hopes of a four star experience on our overnight stay. These were dashed when we entered the hotel and found the contents shabby and tired. As we had travelled a long way we decided to make do and went down for dinner. I don't normally go and see the manager during a meal but the starter was a lump of soggy haggis and black pudding in a sea of yuck! Do you actually have a chef I asked. These were replaced by a lump of cold goats cheese with salad at no cost!! The mains were the final straw. Having asked the manager if we could eat out somewhere else in Dingwall we were told there was nowhere else. So we are in our room eating a tube of pringles now! This place needs to get its act together.
