My wife and I were running late and stopped at the Old Manor Hotel on the off chance that they had a room for us for the night. Fiona was at reception and arranged a lovely room for us at a very acceptable rate. We dined at the hotel that night and had a lovely 3 course meal for a most acceptable price of £20 per person. The hotel is under new management we believe and we are sure it will go from strength to strength given the enthusiastic commitment to service from the staff. They even went the extra mile for us when it turned out the next morning that we had a flat tire. A very nice young man, from the hotel staff, went home and returned with a foot pump which he then insisted on using and in no time we were able to depart to the nearest tyre repair centre, only a couple of miles away.
The hotel over looks a golf links and the Firth of Forth, it is well presented and has loads of off street parking. Breakfast was lovely and is served in the conservatory over looking the golf course and sea.

I was very pleased to read your kind comments following your stay - car "repairs", where possible, are all part of the service! I hope we can welcome you back at some stage. Best Wishes.

Stayed for a three-day break booked directly with the hotel. I phoned to book and asked about a sea view. It was explained to me that there would be an extra charge of £20 per night for this. I decided to pay the extra and the receptionist said she had booked us in to an executive suite with a sea view and balcony - I reckoned that it would be money well spent to secure a nice room.

When we arrived I was very disappointed by the room (No.18). It seemed quite small and shabby. It was decorated in the style of a nursing home - yellow walls and pink chintzy curtains and bedspreads. The carpet was threadbare in places. The bathroom had an old coloured suite but was a "wet room" - suitable for guests with disabilities. Yes - the room did have a balcony and a sea view - and apart from the slightly depressing decor it was quite cosy and comfortable.

The first night the restaurant had a bit of a wobble. After we had ordered, the fire alarm went off and continued to go on and off for about 15-20 minutes. Ear-splitting! We asked what was happening and also asked about bread for the table - and we were told by the young waiter that the two things were connected - someone was heating rolls in the microwave. (?!!) The rolls eventually arrived - soft, pale, doughy and tasting of smoke. Everything I ordered (seafood risotto, goats cheese with onion marmalade, poached pear) was excellent but my husband was not so lucky - lukewarm soup and a chocolate fondant like a tennis ball - another microwave casualty, I think.

However, after this things looked up in the restaurant - really tasty cooked breakfasts and delicious dinners, especially the middle night when the head chef was on - a really memorable meal.

I would go back to the Old Manor - it's worth it for the food alone and the various short breaks you can get are really good value. I wouldn't bother paying extra for a sea view - I would just take my chances as the rooms facing the sea have not all been renovoted. The restaurant and lounge face out to the sea in any case - you'll have plenty of chances to admire it while you eat.

Plenty to do in this beautiful part of the country - we visitied Elie, Pittenweem, St. Andrews, Tentsmuir Beach, Ceres and the National Trust properties Kellie Castle and the Hill of Tarvit. There is a path to the right of the hotel which leads through a small housing estate and the golf course down to Lundin Links beach and the Fife Coastal Path.

Room Tip: Not worth paying extra for Room 18 unless you are desperate for a sea view or need facilities for a...

Thank you for your constructive comments, which I have read with interest. All have been taken on board, and we look forward to seeing you back again (hopefully room 18 will have had "the treatment" by then.....). All the best.

What a lovely spot for a few days away! The staff are wonderful, the views marvellous and the food is first class.
If I must be negative - and it is only 'nit-picking' - there are not enough staff on duty at breakfast, theystruggle manfully to cope with the demands placed on them, but be prepared to wait a while for your cooked breakfast. The carpets are a little threadbare in places and room number 10 should be avoided at all costs, it's so hot in there that the hotel had to install an air conditioning unit! Please ask for a sea-view room- it's worth the extra cost- believe me!
Please don't take this as a no-no, I will definitely go back again for another break in the future.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room ( Avoid room 10 - unless you're a tomato :-)!!).........

We have just returned from a two night break at the OLd Manor Hotel and found everything to be worthy of a five star rating. From the room (no 8) with its four poster bed and fantastic views to the excellent three course dinner and equally good breakfasts , we have nothing but praise for everything. The staff were very attentive and a great credit to the hotel.
If you fancy a short break in this lovely part of the country, try this hotels latest offers, you will not be disappointed. Well done to all concerned with the hotel and thank you for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Room 8 has wonderful views with a four poster bed and sitting area.

Myself and my wife booked a last minute 2 day break at the end of September. We were very lucky with the weather, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had dinner, bed and breakfast on both days, the first night dinner in the Coachman's Grill and the second nights dinner in the Seaview Restaurant. Both dinners were fantastic value and top quality. Dinner in the Seaview Restaurant was especially good, with us both enjoying a beautiful 3 course meal for £19.95, which was completely covered by our £20 per night dinner allowance. Wine and drink was very fairly priced as well which is always a bonus.

The staff from the cleaners, to reception, to bar and waiting staff were all extremely helpful, polite and chatty. Room was lovely and cosy with a fantastic view, freeview tv and dvd player and coffee making facilities.

Both lazy days were spent enjoying a beer overlooking the beach from the lovely elevated position that the hotel sits with a choice of 2 beer gardens/patios. A trip to St Andrews was also only a 15 minute drive away.

All in all we will definitely be back, thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay and have already recommended it to family members who plan on going this coming October week.

Thanks to everyone at the hotel.

Adam & Ali McDowell.

We stayed here for a family wedding in September. We had the family room (1&2), known as room 3, which was fantastic for us. Room 3 consisted of two bedrooms and shared bathroom, being ideal as we have children (9 and 7). The staff couldn't have been nicer - they were friendly, helpful, always smiling and couldn't do enough for us. Best scrambled egg I have ever had. Food at the wedding reception was fantastic. We have stayed in a lot of hotels and usually I am disappointed by poor service, poor food and/or poor cleaning standards. This was an exception - in fact some of the hotels we have stayed in, could definitely learn a thing or two about customer service from this hotel. It might have a bit of dated decor in places, but look beyond this - as its far better value for money than some of the chain hotels which in our experience fail to deliver on expectations.

Room Tip: Family room go for room 3. Room 4 has splendid four poster and FANTASTIC views
