“Friendly and Welcoming”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

Had been in previously for a drink so when I had the chance I came in for a lunch meal with a couple of elderly friends as well as my 2 kids. We were welcomed in a very friendly manner and shown our table which was in the nice bright conservatory. We didn't feel rushed, the elderly gentleman I was escorting in is very slow on his feet, which seems to annoy some waiting staff but not this time. The orders were taken in a courteous manner and drinks brought out promptly and even a "goodie" bag for my youngest which is a godsend!
Food was of good quality and served in a friendly way. The staff were interested in us without being over bearing, nothing worse than being rushed when you're trying to have a leisurely 3 course meal. Extra drinks ordered were delivered quickly without fuss. And it was nice to get coffee at the end of the meal how I like it - simply black coffee with a jug of cold milk on the side - it seems many places now can only do "fancy" coffee like Latte and cappuccino if I ask for a white coffee. Over all a pleasant visit and was made to feel welcome without too much pressure.

“Very poor service lets hotel down”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

Cannot fault the food at this hotel but the service certainly leaves a lot to be desired. We were seated early and placed our order, our starters were given to another table that came in after us by mistake we waited over 30 mins on starters, I asked for chips with my meal and was given potatoes, We ordered more drinks, my husband got his but my wine was forgotten, we were asked if we would like to see the sweet menu but we are still waiting on this. I was very angry as the restaurant wasn't busy and the staff were standing about. The food that we received was very good but our Saturday night was ruined with the service and will prevent us from returning and recommending this hotel to friends I'm afraid.

“Oh dear !”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

nothing liked - no atmosphere - needs upgrade - and certainly the owners do not appear to have any ability to connect with customers/guests. I am told planning was/is being sought to convert to flats. Understand exactly why.

“Keep driving until you reach St Andrews!”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

Very slow service despite only three tables dining. Chicken gougeon salad was one reheated breast cut into six pieces dumped on top of some damp iceberg lettuce. Waited 30 mins for this. Always looks inviting but won't be back.

“Avoid at all costs!”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

After having a terrible experience here on Mothers day I made an erroneous decision to return the Lundin Links Hotel to give them a last chance to redeem themselves! It was not to be! Service, as always, ridiculously slow despite there only being one other table in when we arrived and another two when we left. The member of staff on duty was pleasant but the complaint handling at the Lundin Links falls far below the standard one should expect. As the restaurant was so quiet I overheard another table complaining about their meal they were offered a replacement meal which it was clear they did not want. Eventually the waitress who I believe to be the duty manager returned to the table and said she had thought about it and decided not to charge for the meals as they were hardly touched! I was listening in disbelief I should think not! In fairness the table were appeased by this. At no point during our meal did any staff member come to ask if everything was ok which is standard practice and the least one should expect in a restaurant. Had someone done so they would have noticed that I had not touched the pastry from my steak pie because it was what can only be described as cremated. There is no way the chef should have let this leave the kitchen and as a waitress I would have been embarrassed to serve this. However, no mention of it was made on serving. When they eventually cleared our plates (quite a time after we had finished our meal) I pointed out that my pastry was inedible and to my utter disbelief the waitress/duty manager apologised and said "I will have a word-that is the second time this has happened today"! She was clearly embarrassed at having to admit this and I found the fact there was a pre-existing problem which had been obviously ignored quite unacceptable. I am keen to support local businesses but I cannot recommend that anyone spends their hard earned money here. I do not take pleasure in having to write this but this is exactly how my experience panned out!! Another special occassion ruined. Such a sad decline of a once lovely hotel.
