“Fair place to stay”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

Had room to rear with basically no view. Old hotel but was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast -- Full Platter-- was tasty but really sparse. Milk for cereal was slightly off.
Young girl serving breakfast was very nice but a bit forgetful.

Room Tip: Front room on higher floors have excellent view

Thank you for your review and.I would agree that the view of a tree or a bush from the 4 back bedrooms is not at all exciting but hopefully not unpleasant , perhaps you got a window table for breakfast? We've no idea what happened with the milk as it was still within date but I gather it was sorted as soon as it was brought to our attention.Your comments that the breakfast platter was sparse are surprising,I don't recall any similar comments before but will certainly look for more feedback on this matter. I'm delighted that you found the hotel clean and comfortable

An excellent hotel run by experienced and friendly staff. We were made extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable and well appointed room. Great views across the Forth. Superb food at reasonable prices. We will be back!!!

Room Tip: Go for view and balcony

Paper thin doors, synthetic dusty 'velvet' bed throws, 1970s carpets, no wifi (operating wifi that is), dire breakfast, dust all over the furniture... I didnt know these places still existed.
We decided to laugh about it, and suck in the experience. But cant find much to recommend: from the breakfast lady who shoved all the scrambled eggs onto the floor while continuing to talk, the receptionist who, when asked where we could have dinner, said 'let me look it up on the internet, the rail track by the bedroom, the caravan park 200 yards away, the dilapidated neon sign on the facade...

A film set, I tell you..

I was sorry to learn that the Kingswood did not live up to your expectations however I have to confess to being somewhat confused by your comments.
All fire doors must be thick and sturdy to comply with Scotland’s stringent fire regulations, your room also had an additional original solid oak door between your bedroom and corridor
The older part of the hotel has a more traditional décor rather than an ultra modern look which would not suit the building, refurbishment is constantly ongoing ,there are most certainly no carpets dating back to the 1970’s, the plain cream carpet in the room you occupied is less than 2 years old
Since our FREE wifi was upgraded a couple of months ago, you are the first person to mention having difficulties, I therefore wonder if you knew to ask for the password.
The majority of our guests appreciate the friendliness of our staff and this we will continue to encourage, our server remembers being told at the time that you enjoyed your breakfast and yet you now claim that breakfast was dire? Similarly I would not accept a dusty room and would not consider this a laughing matter, any issues would easily have been rectified instantly.
Whilst there are indeed 2 beautiful Caravan Parks about ½ mile away, I cannot understand why you would find them offensive, neither can even be seen from the hotel or its grounds.
Finally as we do not have a Neon Sign on our façade we do wonder if you have perhaps got us confused with somewhere else

Very nicely appointed room with balcony, the evening meal and breakfast was nice and well priced. The only slight criticism would be the road and railway noise from the front of the hotel but this was a minor negative point, overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would stay again.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony was a nice experience for a change and it made the room cooler and fresher as...

Thank you for your review, the view from the Balcony rooms is indeed beautiful and in the warmer weather it is certainly pleasant to have the double glazed doors open through night but you are quite right, this does make the occasional traffic and rail noise more apparent but I do hope this would not deter you from returning

Had a great stay in a sea facing, balcony room - view fabulous. Lovely staff and tasty, well presented food. Ideal place for a quiet relaxing break and a well kept attractive garden with seating areas, if you happen to get a sunny day - which we did. Overall very relaxing, would recommend.
