“Great atmosphere, great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

Ate here recently, when looking for an alternative to hotel food, and enjoyed a fabulous meal. The bar has a very welcoming atmosphere. The person behind the bar was business-like but not as chatty and welcoming as he could have been - but the person who brought our meal made up for this - really friendly and pleasant. The menu had plenty of choice and I could easily have chosen four or five dishes, and that's from someone who only eats vegetarian food or fish dishes. I really enjoyed the chick pea/sweet potato main dish that I went for in the end. I wish I could have pinched the recipe! I would definitely go there again when working in the area and would highly recommend it.

Promised so much from the web site. Arrived Wednesday afternoon, staff very friendly and welcoming. We were shown the room and I must admit I was disappointed, not as big as I would have liked but a comfortable bed. We booked in for an evening meal and were impressed with the inside of the pub, I ordered the duck which came with two rosti's. I asked for the duck to be pink, it wasn't and both rosti's were burnt. The strange thing was, just after I had my meal delivered, the rosti's were taken off the menu.
My wife also had issues with the housekeeping, the cleaners hadn't dusted properly, the extractor fan was covered in a buildup of dust and there was a strange stain on the quilt cover. Found a nice pub close by though

We visited for the 1st time this weekend on a 2 night stay. Lovely location. The bar is traditionally small which made for the cosy experience. The bedrooms were a good size, clean and tidy. Food was really good although we didn't have dinner in the evenings. Breakfast was good, selection of beer and wine was good. My only negative was that the staff didn't make an effort to make us feel welcome. They did their job to the "best of their ability" would be a fair comment. Other than that really enjoyed it and would go back.

Room Tip: Sundays - the church bells ring out! very pleasant to wake up to.

Friends recommended this restaurant to us, but unfortunately we came away feeling dissatisfied. In terms of food, the starter and desserts were very good but the main course was a disappointment. The staff were lovely and could have not made us feel any more welcome. I feel I am being petty with this review because the staff were so lovely, but the main course was a like stepping back in time to the pub grub of the 90's and it is priced at top end restaurant level.

Stayed for two nights in room number 1. Can't find many faults in this place, really, the room was immense and furnished to a high spec, the bathroom was very large too and very clean, the bed was great, the place is very quiet and/or the room is well soundproofed, the breakfast was really good as well as the meal I had in the evening.

The wireless network was not working throughout my entire stay, which might be relevant for someone who needs it and expects it (as it is advertised and offered as a free service).

The cost is, in my opinion, above average but so is the quality of the accomodation and service, which makes it fair.

We had a very nice overnight stay at this very nice inn. The rooms were very nice and comfortable, we had room no 2 we had a very bid bathroom, very big bath ( sadly no separate shower) but the bath had mixer / shower head. The food was very good ant the bar area had a very warm and friendly atmosphere.

Had a great stay in room number 2 with the fabulous bathroom and a lovely meal in the pub in the evening. We had cycled there on the Colliers Way (which was brilliant too) and sent an overnight bag before we went which they kept for us.

Great staff who were very attentive and a really superb breakfast which was served by the owner - a very nice guy!

We will be back 100%

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 7 seven look great , see their website.
