On the surface you have character and charm but sadly the building is not maintained as it could be and there is a dirty smell in the air. If the place had new staff I am sure it could be charming. The room was very small and the pub was not an ideal place for a woman travelling alone to eat

We booked a double room here for one night. We arrived about 11.00am and were able to check in straight away. The pub/hotel is a very old building and this adds to its charm. The room was nicely decorated, and on the surface it seemed clean but wasnt that clean. Stained cups and glasses in the room and it was dusty. Even so, it was bearable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We paid £70 for the room which is very reasonable, and the bed was very comfortable. The price included breakfast. Breakfast was lovely. Buffet style full English was on offer this included: Sausage, tomatoes, beans, bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast and mushrooms. There were cereals, coffee, tea and orange juice available too. Breakfast was served in a nicely done dining room. We chose to eat ours outside on the lovely patio area. Overall, a good hotel, but cleaning needs to be improved.

I had a very pleasant stay with a small group of friends. The location is great with ample parking (which would otherwise be very difficult in the town!). We were in the courtyard rooms which were small but well presented and well kept. Great real ales on tap in the pub which were a good start to the evening. Highlight for us was the full English breakfast which was as good as any I've had cooked by the owner who is very down to earth, chatty and accommodating. Not sure how suitable this would be for a family, but it was perfect for my friends and I. This was our second visit.

Stayed last year with my wife and 4 young daughters. Family room situated above d.j which played till 2am. Police called twice one time for alarm going off at 3am manager or the woman who runs it no where to be found. Second time to arrest couple above us for fighting each other. When owner did turn up I was told to shut up and go back to sleep. That would of been lovely but for the drunks coming back being loud and one trying to get in our room. Fair enough we all like a drink but a member of staff should of been on hand if its needed. We left at 5am tired and my kids scared. Never met a manageress/ owner so rude. Stay there if your auditioning for Jeremy Kyle.
