Have been on several of these Cliff railways but this one is apparently the oldest and steepest one in England. Great bit of history which has been preserved. My mom appreciated the rest to her legs in preference to taking the steps up when we stayed in the low town on the cartway.

The cliff railway is an essential visit when in Bridgnorth. It’s also a fun and economical way to avoid the steep walk from low town to uptown. Although the system of propulsion has changed since Victorian days the cliff railway still feels from that era. It’s well maintained with friendly staff. Good views of the river and low town when you reach the top. Not a long ride but a lot of fun, the grandkids loved it.

Well this is one of those things that should be experienced at least once - however don't expect a long ride. The walk from Low to High town is quite steep and this is a bargain at £1.60 return.

We visited yesterday with two young toddlers. The railway is immaculately kept and is just like being back in time. The views are spectacular and the staff super friendly. Especially helpful with the pushchair! Thanks.

Had a lovely afternoon in Bridgnorth and the cliff railway was the icing on the cake , useful too as a very steep walk to high town, the wonky castle is close to the top station as well

If there is one thing to do in Bridgnorth, it is to ride the cliff railway. It lived up to expectation, was amazingly cheap (£1.60 return) and runs until late every day. Engineering is classic Victorian efficiency, sadly no longer hydropowered. The ticker machines take me back to cinemas of my childhood, and they issue real tickets!
A real pleasure to have seen and ridden this.
