The Old House is a listed building partly dating back to the 15th century. It is a delightful characterful property with good sized rooms especially the downstairs en-suite, and has a comfortable large guest lounge where tea and biscuits were served on arrival. Breakfast is served in the large farmhouse style kitchen where the charming attentive hosts treat their guests more like friends than visitors. Located within easy reach of Bridgnorth and the Ironbridge area. A great place to stay in this lovely county

What a fabulous stay we had! From the minute we knocked on the door we were greeted with a smile and treated like royalty. The Old House is a gorgeous black and white building with plenty of character inside and out. The garden is beautifully well kept and a delight to sit out in for breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and Tim and Fifi were quite happy to point us in the right direction for all the best places to visit and eat out. We will definitely be passing our recommendations for The Old House to our family and friends and will make it our 1st choice if we come back to the area.

Not so long ago I had a chance to stay in the Old House for a weekend and it's going to be one of these memories you cherish for a long time. It's a lovely place in picturesque neighbourhood and with a wonderful garden where you can feel like time has stopped for a while. Decorated with taste and in a lovely manner, filled with family memorabilia and pictures made by the very owner of the house it truly makes you feel like at home. The room I rented was nice and cosy, and the breakfast served by the brilliant host was one of the best I have ever had. Even the rainy day couldn't spoiled it for me: all you have to do in such situation is to hide in the Old House for a few hours, with a book and tea, sitting on the sofa in front of the fireplace. The Old House it's a perfect place for all those who ever wonder about a moment of calm in the English countryside.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Old House recently. The property has loads of character and plenty of facilities for the visitors. It was excellently placed for easy access to Bridgenorth and Wolverhampton, with plenty of National Trust properties in a reasonable vicinity.

Our hosts were genial and knowledgeable about the area and did a fine cooked breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

We were warmly received by the owners on arrival, and this welcome was equally extended to our labrador/retriever. This immediately made us feel at home. We loved the period property and our room was both spacious and very comfortable.
We valued the suggestions about local places of interest to visit, especailly as the weather was inclement for part of our stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed the freshly cooked full English breakfast which set us up for the day. We have no hesitation in recommedning The Old House to anyone visiting the area.
Just before we left we commented on the quality of the paintings in our room, only to discover that these were the work of our hostess. This led us later to commission her to undertake a series of illustrations for our first book.

Room Tip: There is a dog friendly room on the ground floor which has easy exit to the garden.

This excellent B & B in a picturesque period house was our home and base for almost a week recently while we explored Shropshire. It was a convenient and comfortable centre for our exploration. The Old House Hilton is in the country but also easily accessible from Birmingham area.
We were made entirely at home. A large olde worlde sitting room with huge old style fireplace is set aside for guest use, so we could come and go as we pleased.
The freshly cooked English breakfast is fast becoming legendary. In the evenings we sampled some of the excellent pub / restaurants within easy range of the house and returned to the Old House for a comfortable night's sleep.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Situated in beautiful gardens, The Old House has been in the Sharplin family home for over twenty two years. It is a 16th century Grade II listed building and was originally built as a ‘Hall House.’ Over the years it has undergone many changes, the most significant being the addition of two massive inglenook fireplaces built from pink Shropshire sandstone in the centre of the house, where originally there was just an open hearth fire with a hole in the roof. Surprisingly for such an early house, the ceilings are high, probably because the current floor level resulted from a cellar infill. The rooms are all large and with many exposed original beams. ... more   less
