We stopped for one night. Didn't eat in the evening, but the fact that the place was full of people would suggest they are doing something right!

Our room (8) was well maintained, with all the usual facilities.

We got back to our room just before midnight and could still hear the noise from the band playing downstairs. It didn't last for long and wasn't a problem to us, but if you are planning an early start on the morning after a function, you might want to choose a quiet room. One other noise issue was the constant drone of the extractor fans on the roof outside the window. It is a low hum and after a while it becomes 'normal' but may be an issue to some.

Breakfast was very good. Freshly cooked to order and made with quality produce.

Room Tip: Room 8 has the extractor fans for the kitchen just outside the window. These are on constantly, so t...

Lovely big room in fact that big you could play cricket in it. lovely and clean with a huge bed, friendly staff and terrific food. Had the Saturday night buffet fantastic meal. A bit out of Bridgnorth but well worth the drive. Nice quiet location.

The Down inn room was above averge size, however the bathroom was a tight squeeze. A room above the main entrance means that there is very little rest until the pub empties at 11.30 at night.
Rooms are clean, but the bathroom will need a paint over soon, as the steam has started to make the paint peel.
Beds are comfortable, pillows could be a little more dense.
Tried the evening Buffet meal, pork was excellent, turkey a little dry, and the vegetables so-so.
Breakfasts are very good, especially when served from the buffet.

Room Tip: Try a room at the back. The road can be a little noisy as it takes some heavy vehicles fro Ludlow to...

We stayed at the Down Inn on Saturday and Sunday (26th and 27th October 2013) and definitely enjoyed our stay.

The food was fantastic, the selection of beer was good and the whole team there were very, very friendly and accommodating.

It made for a great base to visit the Ironbridge Museums etc. On the basis that we have another 7 to visit we will be going back again and will be using the Down Inn again. Truly enjoyed the stay, the staff made it very welcoming,

Today myself and partner got married and we arranged to have the reception at The Down Inn, the room was decorated well, the food was exceptional, we had arranged for all guests to have the carvery and it was delicious. We had a choice of starter, we could then have beef, turkey and pork then help ourselves to veg. We then had a choice of puddings. It was beautiful. We stayed in Room one overnight with our daughter and it was lovely, huge bed, en-suite, tea and coffee making facilities. Would definitely recommend

Room Tip: Room one is massive, en-suite

From the arrival greeting to the departure farewell, the staff were so helpful and friendly. The other guests were friendly too (must be something in the air?).

We took the advice of another Tripper and avoided the rooms over the kitchens and were placed in a side of building room, overllooking a field and with distant view towards Bridgnorth.

The room was spotlessly clean and newly built. The only drawback was that due to the bath/shower being installed in a recess, within the bathroom, the shower screen could only be opened by about 10 inches, thus considerably restricting access from outside the bath, to the taps - ouch! It means that any guest who is "large", infirm or heavily pregnant (no offence intended to any of these groups) wouldn't be able to get into, let alone out of, the bath/shower.

We had the carvery both nights - superb - and perhaps a little known fact (because there is nothing to tell you unless you ask) if one could accommodate it; multiple helpings are allowed! Which is probably why it's priced at £8.50, unlike the Rudyard Lake Hotel's comparable fayre at £3.95 with no second helpings.

Breakfasts were excellent and freshly cooked to order.

We would return to Down Inn if in the area.

Room Tip: Room 5 was quiet with a side view, but beware the restrictive shower screen aperture. They may all b...
