Description: Catch23 Restaurant, Cake House and Coffee Shop overlooks the fishing lakes by Kellet Lane Borwick, just off Junction 35 on the M6 at the Carnforth interchange. Built on the site of a redundant gravel pit,the views across the water and the tranquillity of the scenery compliment the surroundings of the building beautifully, and there are many interesting things to spot in the naturalised landscape. The dining room and coffee shop are open every day from 9.00 In the morning (except Christmas and New year) with a warm and friendly greeting to welcome guests all year round. Our menu is carefully selected using produce from local suppliers to bring some of the best value, quality dining in the locality. There is always a selection of Daily Specials which are in addition to the regular menus and these tend to be made up from seasonal ingredients brought in specially for the day. Their availability is limited and so it is worthwhile booking early to avoid disappointment at busy times. Reservations are not essential but recommended. There is a good range of choices and very often live music when we have our wine inclusive menus on special occasions. Private functions can be arranged for family and business entertaining and we are always happy to create individual menus to suit the event. As a very happy customer recently commented :- " A Little Hidden Gem " !

We first visited Catch 23 on Christmas Eve as we were looking for a hamper as a last minute present and decided to eat at same time restaurant was very busy and we did have to wait a while but we were given a dish of crisps to keep us going while waiting for food. I had a sandwich with a side salad and a portion of chips all of which were delicious my other half opted for the cheese rarebit but was not overjoyed with choice and wished he had had the fish and chips so told him he would have to have that next time! Service and staff were really good even though quite busy and short staffed. We returned to this place on Sunday 20th January quite late in the day but my other half was able to get his fish and chips in spite of it being 3 20pm bit happier this time I chose the Roast Ham eggs and chips which again were a good choice with lots of ham and too stuffed for any of the delicious looking cakes on display maybe next time we ll just have coffee and cakes! This is a fairly new place and we hope it does well
as they have a farm shop and do take away food and appears to be family run so if there are any fisherman out there looking for somewhere nice to fish and good food here is the Place!

This has been open for around three months and having cycled past a few times we stopped (with an elderly relative) for lunch on a Friday. We were very impressed with the freshely cooked and well prepared fare on offer, and with the decor/atmosphere. We were served by the owner who was very approachable, and then attentive (but not over attentive!) staff. There is quite a lot of competition in the area, but this new cafe is going to do well. It offers early breakfasts and lunches - it is out in the country with a good carpark, and even if you don't want to watch fishermen (or fish yourselves) a visit is well worth while. Its likely to become a regular haunt for us and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stop for a pleasant meal in the locality (whether residents or visitors).

After a friend's recommendation, we visited this restaurant today (Saturday), and we were so glad we did. It was in a beautiful location, and a real surprise. We had a fabulous lunch. I had one of the specials, which was Cajun chicken salad, which was absolutely delicious. My husband had his favourite, an all day breakfast, and he gave it top marks. Reasonable prices too. The staff were very friendly, and we will definitely go back again soon. I should think the news will soon spread about this hidden treasure. A perfect trip out from so many locations, with excellent food when you get there.

Called in on Sunday 6 January on friends recommendation and wasn't disappointed.

Nice new wooden building next to Borwick Fisheries. Lots of outdoor seating with pleasant views over the fishing lakes. Small hatch for takeaway orders, particularly useful no doubt for the fishermen/women.

Cafe had very good selection of both hot and cold savoury food including plenty of lovely sounding breakfast options.

We didn't have time for lunch but managed a cake with our drinks, latte's served in tall glass cups and Coke with generous portions of the Christmas, Banana and Chocolate cakes (three different cakes not one wierd one!!).

Staff were friendly and the whole place was very clean. The interior is smart with a wood burner to keep things snug in winter and one side of the building consists mainly of windows overlooking the fishing lake.

There is a small gift shop and various jams, chutneys etc for sale although not enough to warrant a trip if you weren't visiting the cafe.

Will definitely return to sample the hot food and may give 5 star review if this is as good as it sounds on the menu.

Only (minor) gripe is a bit of confusion regarding the soft drinks. They'd run out of cans of normal coke so daughter chose (more expensive) bottle of coke. Bottle duly arrived and although this was more expensive it was only 330ml bottle, same size as a can would have been. For the difference in price I would have expected a 500ml bottle (or even the new 375ml ones that are becoming more commonplace).
