You'll be disappointed if come here expecting cordon bleu gastro-pub cuisine and stylish surroundings replete with designer furniture and scrubbed wooden floor boards. You're bound to be impressed if you visit expecting friendly service and generous helpings of home cooked ,unpretentious pub grub. There's also a decent selection of real ales. We visited on a Sunday evening and the place was packed; it's obvious that the owners know how to keep their customers happy.

The eagles head is probably the best pub food in this part of north Lancashire/south lakes.

We walked the English country side from Capernwray House to the Eagle's Head... not sure I would recommend the walk as it turned out to be over 2 miles, so we took a taxi back. However, it was worth the walk. The food was awesome, it was like a Christmas feast. Everything on the menu our group tried was great... the ribs, lamb, chicken, and salads! The service was wonderful. I would recommend reservations.

Brilliant restaurant ,lovely staff, Landlady is very friendly, you can't fault the food huge portions, I've been defeated on every visit.I would like to see some different beers from micro breweries for a change ,that would be my only criticism.

It's not often that I leave something on the plate, especially when it's fish and chips. But there was no way I could finish this large, excellently cooked and well-presented meal served in a large, pleasant dining room by friendly, courteous staff.
