What a wonderful place to stay. Booked as a last minute break and stumbled on the best accommodation I have ever found. Ideal place to stay for a visit to the south lakes. Well worth a visit, I will be going back.

We stayed at Tewitfield Marina for 4 nights, in Lapwing 4. In a lovely 1 bed apartment with outdoor balcony overlooking the marina. It was very clean, very modern- flat screen tv, all mod cons, wi-fi etc. The kitchen is very well equipped also.
The M6 is behind the apartments, which at first we were a little worried about with noise, but actually you dont notice it whilst in the apartment, noticed it a little when we sat out for breakfast on the balcony.
The apartments are situated about a 20 min drive from Morecambe bay, probably 40 min drive to Windermere, and we drove to Settle and Ingleborough cave in an hour, so it a perfect base for exploring Lancashire, North Yorks, and Lakes.
The marina has a pub/restaurant next to it - The longlands, which was nice for an evening meal and a drink, and a farm shop over the road and a small farm/play area.

All in all, a very good self catering apartment!
We will most definitely be staying here again in the future.

Room Tip: Choose a room opposite side to lapwing- they got the sun in evenings on their balconies!!

have just returned from one week stay at Tewitfield Marina, we stayed at no 10 lapwing, a two bed roomed apartment with en suite to the main bedroom. The apartment had every thing that you would need for a stay, it was bright and modern with a great view over the marina, the hum of the motorway may bother some people but it did not affect us, or spoil our enjoyment of the marina (maybe because we are townies and used to traffic noise). I had a meal at the pub adjoining the marina, the meal was excellent but make sure you make a reservation as the restaurant was packed, though it was Saturday night. The only criticism I can make about the apartment is that they could do with a larger T.V in the lounge, and the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes from the previous occupant (obviously an oversight). Would I stay there again? most definitely.

Quite by chance we stumbled across the website for this amazing place whilst searching through hotels in the area. We wanted accommodation for three adults and one seven year old child for a few days as a 'breather-break' in a part of Britain that we enjoy. Never having stayed in self catering accommodation EVER or ANYWHERE, we were somewhat in the dark about what to expect. Slightly hard to find due to the lack of signage (maybe we're spoiled here in Bonnie Scotland) we arrived around 2:30 (half an hour earlier than the 3pm check in time) and were immediately impressed by the situation and surroundings; very pretty and peaceful if you can manage to block out the quiet drone of the nearby (and handy) motorway (that is not over looked and does not spoil any view). Do not arrive before 3pm and think you can enter the premises, you can't, as the key for your condo is in a time activated safe outside your property. We took the opportunity to nip to the local supermarket and stock up on supplies! On our return we intrepidly unlocked our front door to find.....a STUNNING condo; scrupulously clean and nicely furnished. My son thoroughly enjoyed the friendly little ducks that waddled up every morning for their breakfast and the adults enjoyed the balcony overlooking the marina and watching the world go by. To sum up, this is a fabulous base for exploring if you want maximum flexibility and is a lot cheaper than most hotels. Would have scored the full five out of five but for a few small 'niggles'. Reception are aloof to say the least, which may be the norm for self catering but we found slightly off putting; also there were one or two MINOR snagging items within the condo but nothing that could not be overlooked. Biggest problem was a strange, but not unpleasant, smell from the furniture in the bedrooms (almost a resin-type smell, maybe the glue???) Will definitely be back and be back SOON!

Room Tip: We stayed in Number 5 Mallard House which had a double room and a twin room. Mallard House appeared...

We stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment at 4 Mallard and were pleasantly surprised and impressed with the location and decor of the accomodation. The furniture was high quality and it had all mod cons making our break very comfortable and enjoyable. The apartment was very spacious and well equipped and had everything we required for a family of four. The finishing touches in the apartment were second to none and we would highly recommend.

I stay here on a regular basis and find it very comfortable and far superior to staying in a hotel. The apartment are all maintained to a high standard. One poor thing is the lack of Wi-fi for the apartment which is a bother if you don't want to sit in the local hotel every night.
The apartments sit right on the canal marina which is very nice.

Having stayed last year and enjoyed our trip, we were disappointed to find our one bedroom apartment was not as clean as it could have been. The washing machine, which is listed in the facilities included, was obviously unusable as the control panel was hanging loose! Apart from this being potentially dangerous as the machine was on at the mains, when we reported this to reception, the reply was " we know, there is a few have not been working for a while!". We also had a tv in the bedroom which was unwatchable as the screen was so dark and even after altering the contrast/brightness etc. it just got worst as the days went on. This was reported and we received the same response of a don't really care attitude.

It is a shame that they are becoming so complacent about standards and even worse, the lack of caring when it comes to customer service. They really should not list washing machines, tv and wifi facilities when they are not prepared to provide these services.
