Good food and oozing with atmosphere! I had tender roast beef on a roll, with gravy - great value. Good coffee too, by the cafetiere - you choose what size!

First came across the Centre while waiting for a car service, now visit every time we're in Carnforth - it's that good. The Centre is built around Carnforth's industrial past and, most specially, the film 'Brief Encounter' - which certainly has a cult following. We've often come across folk dressed up in '1940s' style, and the atmosphere of the reconstructed waiting room is pretty unique, plus great food traditional but far better than old British Rail. As well as the waiting room there's a great little museum run by dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. Great.

“A step back in time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

What a great place to visit, and the volunteer staff so helpful and friendly, the place is brimming with memorabilia and of course the setting for that famous film Brief Encounter. You can wonder around all the rooms, sit and watch the film itself, visit the famous cafe for wonderful refreshments, buy gifts, even warm yourself in the station masters office by the real coal burning fire. I was invited to have a photo taken behind the famous counter where the teas are served from. I enjoyed watching some of the film as time prevented me watching it all as we were on a coach and had to get back to it, but i had seen the film before. Apparently you can buy a whole days experience voucher as a gift which includes, morning coffee, watch the film, lunch, tour, and then afternoon tea, a gift with a difference. Dont miss this place if you are in or around Carnforth. The Clock on the station is apparently the 2nd most photoed clock in England. There is no charge for this attraction but you can make a donation.
