been 3 times now , using our Tesco vouchers
the 2 previous occasions we went in the week at lunch time and had the HUGE burger and a pud which on both occasions was lovely and freshly cooked which does mean you have to wait a while BUT who cares when it;s fresh and not ding food !!
today we decided we'd go for the Sunday carvery , because we had our vouchers we had to have the 3 course menu at £11.95 BUT what AMAZING value !!
duck spring rolls to start , as much carvery as you can eat (meat as well, we went up twice) and choco fudge cake ALL Really nice !
it's only a small place and could do with a bit of a face lift , but the friendly staff as yummy food make up for that
they were setting up in a marque for a christening and it looked Amazing ! Great for a private hire party , just a shame it's a bit off the beaten track for us , or i would defo have it for my 50th
Even without the Tesco vouchers it VERY GOOD value for money and we will be going back !
also you can sit outside for a drink in the summer as its right on the canal and they seem to have a kids climbing frame in the garden BUT it's always been cold when we've gone so not been able to sit out yet !!

“A lovely canal side meal.”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

We went to this Inn by the canal at Burscough to use some Tesco tokens with friends. It was quiet inside the restaurant but there were several couples enjoying a drink in the Slipways garden. This would be a great place to take a family as it has a small play ground but also a large lawn for children to play in. Of course parents would need to take account of the proximity of the canal. There were some good offers for Sunday lunch but we were there on a weekday so the review is of the food we chose.

We took quite a long time to choose from the extensive menu plus some specials on a board. The food choices are probably quite typical for a countryside pub - but were freshly cooked and we allowed time for this. When the meals came they were attractively presented and delicious. We would certainly return, maybe next time we could try the weekend carvery meals!!
The 'Baileys' cheesecake was very well received too!
