When to Martin Mere with my wife, it was the first time either of us had been and didn't know quite what to expect.
The staff were more than helpful when they asked had we been before and we said no, they explained where things were and what events were on that day and were more than happy to answer any questions.
The place is filled with many different types of birds, ducks, swans etc. they even have flamingos.
The time went so quickly we couldn't believe we had been walking around for about 5 hours.
There are also many hides for watching birds out on the mere.
Remember to take your camera and/or binoculars.
This was one of the best days out I have had so much so that we took a years membership out before we left.
Whether you have kids or not Martin Mere is defiantly worth a visit it is far more than just bird watching.

My family has now joined Martin Mere and it has become a regular haunt for me and my 1 year old. Having said t6hat our first visits were without children, and none the worse for that! Martin Mere has so many wonderful wetland birds, great areas for viewing them in enclosures, and even better from the hides looking out over the Mere itself. The canue safari is a highlight, as is the adventure playground now the little one is old enough to partake.
For me, the very best thing about this place is the staff and volunteers. Always beaming with smiles (but not in a sickmaking way!), more than happy to help, generous with their time, and understanding of all our needs. We've even joined the Gosling Gang, where toddler and I listen to stories, sing songs and make something nature-related in a little craft workshop. It's free, and we get a bag of seed thrown in. Unbeatable value!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review – we really appreciate it! We’re glad you are enjoying your membership - we all love seeing our regular toddler visitors on Thursday. Just so you know, in addition to storytime, crafts and bird seed, you can also get a free toddler meal when you purchase an adult hot meal in the cafe Thursdays - excellent for when you need a winter warmer!

Had a very enjoyable day out with the family (10 and 8yrs) on Sunday. A lot to see and do with a combination of wildlife, play area, activity (kayak canoes) and interactive events (pond dipping and raft building).

All in a great day - we spent 5 hours - and would recommend it.

Excellent day out with otters, beavers, flamingos and more types of wetland birds than you could ever name. I arrived a little later in the day so managed to avoid the hoards of kids, having said that it's a wonderful place to take kids. Had a lovely trip on the electric boat - very relaxing, I could have kayaked round but for £2 there was no competition. Well worth a visit.

We've been going to Martin Mere for many years and it continues to get better every time. As well as the great walks round the many ponds and larger lakes including the Mere, visitors can now go on a canoe safari (In the Spring and Summer), visit an Iron Age village, see otters and (if you are lucky) beavers. Younger visitors can have a go at several crafts and go pond dipping and even though my daughter is now too old for the play area, the completely revedevoped area looks fantastic. The recent landscaping and new cafe are very impressive. All in all, a great day out.
