Went to Martin mere with our two grandchildren we had a great time seeing all the birds ducks ducklings otters and beavers, it takes a good few hours to get round but there are plenty of rest places for you to have a picnic or just sit and have a quiet 5mins ,well worth a visit.

Great place to take the children not only for the nature aspect, but also the adventure playground.Educational without being obsesive. can be quite busy so advisable to get there early

Been to martin mere twice and different times of the year. Summer and spring different due to different bird species. Great day out and lovely to walk through different continent areas looking at different wildfowl. Some get very close which is great for photography. Worth the £10 entrance fee because of the conservation. Could spend many hours waiting and watching in the hides but you wouldn't see everything-perhaps become a member and enjoy it all year round. On both visits we have not seen the beavers (stars of BBC autumn watch)

What a wonderful place! We visited with grandson aged 9 who had "one of the best days ever". A beautiful setting and an incredible amount of diverse bird life kept him busy "ticking" birds he had never expected to see.We all loved the canoe safari and the whole lay out of the place provided a fascinating, natural environment to explore.Hand feeding the birds was a great close up encounter experience and the Viking village completed a brilliant day out .We will definitely be visiting again. So much to do and see.

We have been members here for several years as we are keen bird watchers. We mainly go into the hides to do proper birdwatching but sometimes walk round the collection. We nearly always see marsh harriers, various waders, kingfisher and avocets when they are visiting. It is a really lovely reserve in pretty surroundings. The short boat trip is worth going on and quite cheap. The restaurant is ok but a bit pricey, you can walk to Brandreth barn tearooms just up the road for a nice lunch. If you have children they will enjoy the playground, it always seems to be quite full.
