Staff all really polite and make you completely at ease in the restaurant. The food is another level, absolutely brilliant, pigeon starter and 3 way pork main was epic. Will be visiting again for sure.

“Superb food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

Having visited the Blue Mallard recently for lunch and enjoyed it, we decided to return for an evening meal. It was a Tuesday night and they have their 'Surf 'n' Turf' menu on.

The food here is excellent! To start I had their Soup of the Day which was red pepper and tomato served with fresh white bread, and for the main course I had a sirloin steak from their 'Surf 'n' Turf' menu. The food was well cooked and the quality of the ingredients was first class. Everything about the food was superb.

The restaurant itself is a nice place to dine being right next to the canal and in a light, airy former warehouse. What stops me giving this review 5 out of 5 was on this night the service was a bit slow. For example, we had to wait up to 15 minutes before our dishes were cleared after the starters and I noticed another table was waiting for over 5 minutes after being seated before a drinks order was taken. Nothing that can't be rectified though and the staff were nice and friendly.

I wholeheartedly recommend The Blue Mallard and look forward to returning in the near future.

“This place is a high-flier”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2014

The food tastes fresh, is delicious and there is an extensive selection of imaginative vegetables. The service is friendly, efficient and they will adapt meals if there is something in the dish you do not like. Difficult with the ready-made stuff at a lot of restaurants these days. It is well-worth the trip if you do not live nearby.

We have eaten at the Blue Mallard several times and it's always amazing. The food is fresh and creative and always wonderful. We had our wedding reception there on Friday and it was a fantastic party . The food was incredible the hog roast was spectacular and the salmon so tasty. The brownies are gorgeous too.The venue is perfectly set next to the canal. It's a pretty location for a wedding or a nice meal out. The staff are friendly and take excellent care of their guests. The girls behind the bar did well keeping up with our guests and made an excellent Cosmo. “If I could, I'd give this more stars. ”

A perfect meal. From Tanqueray and Fentimans tonic to wood pigeon to duck and a pork sampler to a wonderful Chilean red to a sparkling Muscat dessert wine and bread and butter pudding they didn't put a foot wrong. Undoubtedly the best meal of 2014 so far.
