“Locally sourced food - excellently cooked and presented”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2013

Came across this as a Special Offer and found it to be superb. Only a few miles from where we I've, lovely canal side venue, delightfully light and airy environment with attentive staff and good service. The menu is interesting and very imaginative ie. a starter eaten was Goujons of delicious smoked haddock with local blackpudding, grain mustard sauce and pea puree - topped with a perfect poached egg. Main Course: perfectly cooked pan-fried hake in a brown shrimp cream veloute on crushed potatoes ( very buttery) and accompanied by 2 types of cauliflower and curly greens - cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Portions were ideal - although one of us DID succumb to the dessert menu..........again, very imaginative - Autumn fruit Crumble & Vanilla Rice Pudding, hot and delicious and served in a tall glass in layers i.e crumble, followed by the fruits and topped with creamy vanilla rice- DIVINE! We shall be going again to this little gem of a place, fairly hidden in a small town- so, if you are anywhere in the area, do try it, you won't be disappointed.

“Seven course taster menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

Four of us went to the Lancashire night 7 course taster menu. It was a fantastic night and great value. The food was incredible with superb attention to detail. Can't wait for the next one at the end of November - a Spanish night. Ola!

“Fabulous Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

We visited this restaurant for a Birthday celebration, we normally travel into Manchester or Liverpool for a special meal out but NOT anymore. What we did not expect when we booked was to find a restaurant in this small town that provides originality, excellent quality ingredients and cooking of the highest standard, what a lovely surprise. Add to this the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. This was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time and will definitely return.

“A perfect lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

My husband and I and two relatives had our lunch at the Blue Mallard today. The meal was excellent and so beautifully presented.

The staff were so friendly and polite it was an absolute pleasure to be served by them - the management should be immensely proud of them.

We chose off the Lunch menu which was £10.95 for two courses - this was first class value, I had tomato soup and two other guests had leek and potato soup - we all agreed it was probably the best soup we had ever had in a restaurant - truly home made.

The restaurant is extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated and would recommend to anyone to give the Blue Mallard a try - you will not be disappointed.

Well done to everyone and thank you for giving four diners today a perfect lunch.
