Ate here for a relatives 60th. The staff couldn't do enough for us (from decorating the table, to outstanding service on the night.) The food is well above average for pub grub, but still well priced without being pretentious. To make things better there is also a micro brewery out the back turning out some quality beer so even if you can't eat there its worth dropping in for a drink. Makes a change for me but can't think of a bad word to say about the place. Ps book well in advance or you won't get a table and you'll be disappointed.

We ate here last summer. Can't fault the place really. I've been living abroad for a number of years and felt really surprised about how much British pubs have raised their game. The service, the atmosphere and the food were all spot on. Would definitely come back next time we are in the UK.

We had the pleasure of being taken here on Monday lunchtime by our friends from Banks whilst staying with them on a short stay from Spain, and what a pleasant surprise to see a Pub Restautant so busy on usually a quiet day of the week. Apparently it is always busy. We had a wonderful lunch. Two of us had Tempura Prawns (delicious) one had home made Pate and nor Black Pudding with poached egg, we all had clean plates. I had Lamb shank Indian Style ( cooked to perfection), my husband had Chicken Fajitas, our friends had fish and chips and seafood bake, all delicious. The service was excellent and the ambience great. We will be back when next in Uk and can thoroughly recommend The Hop Vine.

Our friends from Banks invited us to lunch on Monday as we were on a quick visit from Spain and were staying with them. Could not believe it when we arrived at 2 pm, the place was buzzing. We all had starters, 2 had tempura prawns, delicious, 1 black pudding with poached egg and my hubby had homemade Pate - all clean plates. For our mains I had Lamb Shank Indian Style, 1 had Fajitas and the other had Fish Pie and Fish and Chips - all excellent. The service was with a smile and the ambience great, thank you and we shall visit you again when next in the Uk.

We visited the Hop Vine on Friday evening having made a reservation for 8.00pm (reservation is necessary well in advance). We arrived at 7.45pm and the restaurant and pub areas were very busy but we managed to get drinks without difficulty and despite the restaurant being full we were called to our table at 8.10pm. The service was good and the menu offered a good choice of dishes. We were a party of 6 and everyone was very happy with their food and delighted with the bill which after 3 courses each and plenty to drink came to just under £30 per head. By the time we were coming to the end of our meal the restaurant area was virtually empty and the bar was full to capacity (a live band had started to play) but despite the fact that people from the bar wanted to sit at the restaurant tables they were kept out until all the diners had completely finished their meals . We left the Hop Vine at 11.15pm and it was still full to capacity and absolutely buzzing. If you want a romantic meal it is probably better not to go on a live music night but whenever you visit this pub/restaurant you can expect very good food and a great atmosphere
