I recently met friends here for Sunday lunch. We booked but there was actually no need.

I had a pannini which was burnt - how difficult is that to grill or toast - or, indeed, just toast or grill another rather than serving it looking cremated?!

One friend had the salmon, which was very dry and looked as unappealing as it tasted. The other friend had the roast beef which was very dry and overcooked - there was no question of whether it could be rare, medium or otherwise. The potatoes apparently tasted stale and the vegetables did not taste fresh either. In fact, she left most of her meal. I felt embarrassed as I had suggested we visit the restaurant but I can only assume that locals know how bad the food is as this was a Sunday lunchtime and there were only two other diners.

I would not return.

The staff, however, were very friendly and we had no complaint at all about the service.

Dear Teresa,
We apologize for the shortcomings in our food offering, clearly not the way we wish to proceed.
Since August , our menus have changed 3 times and our chefs brigade is being lead by a new young head chef, who knows where he want to be heading in food quality terms.
I know you state you will return, perhaps we can persuade you otherwise with the many changes that have taken place for the better since the summer.
We hope to welcome you back nevertheless.

With kind regards

This is a stunning thatched building which definitely has the 'chocolate box' wow factor when you pull up in the car park. Stayed here for a business event, the on site team supporting us were excellent, accommodating all our requests at the last minute and working with us to help make sure everything ran smoothly. All the service was good to be honest. Check in was efficient whereas checkout was quite slow as there were a very large number of us all checking out at the same time. Spacious rooms were lovely, massive comfy bed, loads of pillows, modern linens and an external balcony with outdoor furniture overlooking the garden. There was a large desk which was good for working on, bathroom was fairly average and quite small compared to room size but the shower was powerful. The rest of the hotel was nicely furnished and there is an adjoining pub and restaurant with separate external entrances. The hotel food was fairly well presented but unfortunately the quality of the ingredients was very poor which led to an overall poor dining experience both at dinner and breakfast.

Thank you for writing this review.
Although we are pleased with your findings in so far guests services are concerned during your stay, we are concerned with your review of our food quality/ menus. Since writing this review in June last year, our kitchen team has changed with a new head chef in charge, and quarterly changing menus have replaced the menu you refer to since, twice over. We hope that on a future stay with us you also can speak glowingly about our food, menu selection and presentation. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

thank you
