Village Hotel Manchester Ashton
Reviewed November 27, 2012

This hotel suited us perfectly for a two night stay. As a family of four we were able to share a family room (a bit cramped with two camp beds and a double bed), it had ample parking, a wide choice of restaurants and entertainment within walking distance, a swimming pool and only a £12 taxi fare to the city centre. Perfect, except there was a party night on the second night of our stay. The hotel had phoned us prior to our stay to ask if we wanted tickets for said party night and we were quite clear in telling them that we were a family and were not interested in the party night. So, we were very disappointed to find out (when it was too late), our room was next door, and adjacent to others who were very interested in the party night and interested in partying well into the early hours (4.30am to be exact). When I suggested to the reception desk the next day that they consider more carefully where they place their families and party night guests I got little response, only a weak "sorry about that". On a more positive note, the pool is excellent, the breakfast had a great buffet selection of hot and cold food and the room was well equipped (so long as you bring your own shampoo and conditioner and don't rely on the one-liquid-soap-does -all-dispenser that is provided. Like I said, ideal family hotel if you manage to avoid the party night and its aftermath!

Room Tip: Check there isn't a party night on!

This was my first stay at a Village hotel, went with my partner and 3-other couples and booked the party nights package which consists of show, dinner, bed and breakfast for £109 per couple. The rooms were nice and modern, fantastic shower / wet room, tea & coffee facilities, ironing board, hairdryer, extra pillows. Reception staff very friendly upon arrival.
Function was held in large marquee at the side of the hotel, whilst it was beautifully decorated inside, that's where the positive part of the review ends, bar prices were considerably more than that in the main hotel bar, which was quite suprising considering you could purchase drinks from main bar and take them through to marquee; bottle of rose wine in main bar was £10, compared to £15.95 in marquee! The food was terrible, in-edible soup for starter follwed by processed turkey, uncooked sprouts and not-roasted - roast potatoes. The service was appaling, with some tables having finished their starters before others had been served. The heating broke and when we questioned this we were told they had run out of gas, although the heat was up and running some 15-20 minutes later.
Friends in our group had been to these party nights before but at a different village location and reported very highly in terms of food quality.
I would stay here again but not as part of the party nights package.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly, the rooms and facilities were lovely and a great selection of drinks at the bar. The hotel would be a nice place to take the other half for a shopping weekend and enjoy nearby Manchesters nightlife, which as part of our suppliers hospitality, we did.

Bit on the grubby side, reception staff really friendly and helpful, but it stopped there.
My room was a modern but a bit stains in carpet and furniture brought it down a bit. Nevwr got a good night sleep as the pillows were like big bouncy sponge's.
Service in bar was bad and the food was not upto the standard I have had in other village hotels. This was the newer style but one if the first and it showed.
Conference staff were ok but the rooms were juat a bit to dark.
It's ok for an overnight but that's about it.

Stayed here on several occasions as hotel provides a reasonably good standard of accommodation. Hotel rooms nice and clean with comfortable beds, only downside is that the room deco is dark which makes it feel somewhat depressing! Room includes tea and coffee facilities, flat screen tv, hair dryer, ironing board etc. breakfast selection standard with a range of cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice limited to orange or grapefruit and the orange was not replenished as quickly as you would expect. All self service, main breakfast items nice and hot and replenished fairly quickly. Overall ok but not really worth the full price of £90 per night, if you can get a good deal then give it a try.

My wife and I popped in to the Village Hotel for breakfast, what a pleasant supprise we had, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The breakfast was what you would expect at a big chain hotel except the quality of the items bacon, sausage, blackpudding, etc. were all first rate, we can't wait to be in the area again for a repeat all for the princly sum of £4.95 each. Well done Village especially the breakfast chef

Stayed here using a Groupon promotion with my husband & two young adults. Efficient but not particularly warm welcome, lovely quality room, excellent three course dinner in the Verve Restaurant and very friendly service. Breakfast equally good - would definitely stay again.
