Attended as part of a large group and paid extra for an executive room. This had the hardest bed ever slept and was unacceptable dirty with weeks old cobwebs on the walls, a rusting shower rail, a toilet seat that still has builders labels on it and so much muck and grime around the bath taps that it made you wonder if it had ever been cleaned. No matter how I tried I could not get the wifi to work. TV was really small and not in the best location to watch from bed. Room was well heated and nice and warm

Breakfast was OK if you like pouting your warm orange juice straight out of the carton, making your own toast and walking round and round the room to get everything as cerails are kept in a different location to the grapefruit which is different to the orange juice. That said the one staff member on duty was pleasant. If only the same could have been said about the staff on reception.

Our goup evening meals was cooked well enough but very traditional, prawn cocktail, chicken and bought in cheese cake and was terrible overpriced for what you got. Again the staff were very pleasant and friendly and made the best of a bad job.

It had snowed the day before and while not expecting the hotel staff to clear up all the snow it is worth noting that you have to leave the main hotel and walk in the open for a few yards and up some steps to get to the exec bedrooms. No effort had been made to either clear this short footpath or put down salt and as a result it was very very dangerous to enter or leave the bedroom wing.

The hotel has a great location right on the banks of the river but until the management drag this hotel to an acceptable standard of cleanliness I for one wont attend again.

We used the hotel to host a large family gathering - and were looked after in splendid fashion. We had exclusive use of the Terrace Bar which meant that after a lovely lunch we could relocate to our 'private' room for coffee and speeches. All of the staff, from recepetion, the bar, and the restuarant were courteous and efficient. Five couples stayed overnight and none could not fault the rooms. Breakfast the following morning was standard fayre but no less delicous for being traditional - and the waitress was very obliging and even moved the tables in order we could breakfast together. Our thanks to the Dolphin for helping make the day the success it proved to be.

This place could be wonderful and I can only imagine the management have no idea how to run a good hotel. It makes little of it's wonderful location and probably only survives because of an older generation who remain loyal and like the 1970s menu.

lovely breakfast and friendly staff that make the effort.
stayed in a warm room with renovated bathroom but with very little power or heat in the shower
rest of room dated and needed renovation.
value depends on how much you pay for a room... your shout...

my wife & I stayed at this hotel for six nights, prior to going we were worried when we checked the reviews, but we were very surprised with the hotel. It certainly needed some updating but all of the staff were more than accomodating, they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. For anyone who likes to walk there are a number of fantastice walks in the area. we would certainly go back to the hotel again when we visit Cambridgeshire.
