What can i say, from the moment we stepped of the coach, to the time we got back on it, was eat, drink, and relax, in this super hotel, a 10 min walk to the vast clean beach, you couldn't get lost if you tried, we go on holiday 3 or 4 times a year, this was just a cheap last min booking, and turned out to be 1 of the best weeks holiday we have ever had, food great, rooms basic but clean, we love the beach, but did visit the rooftop pool, it was fake green grass, that attracted flies... Yukk, but so what with a beach like theirs, who needs a pool, we will be going back next year, deffo.

We booked this hotel independently via the internet and weren't expecting too much as it's only a 2 star. The room was basic and small but we only used it for sleeping in anyway. The food was great. The staff were incredibly helpful. The entertainment was dire but we weren't there for that anyway. It was a great base to explore the wider resort of Pineda de Mar. Will definitely be going back.

Thanks to Thomas Cook, the front desk had no idea of our reservation when we arrived at 21.00.
Luckily they could put us in a broom closet for the first night, then moved us to 349 on the sunny side.
The room was small with a double and a single bed. Small balcony, good for 1 person. The handyman fixed the TV right away and gave us a table for the balcony. Bathroom was fine.
We piled the suitcases on the single bed and made the best of a clean but cramped stay of 2 weeks in September 2013.
Now the good part.

We were paying about £20 a night (Thos. Cook) for the 2 of us, and I think the included breakfast was worth £10 of it. Great selection and all you could eat, so we did.
The upper deck pool bar run by Antonio was superb. Good food, freebies and cheap drinks. Lots of loungers (we didn't go to the pool deck), and sun all day. We spent a lot of time up there.
All the staff were very friendly and we tipped the maids and Antonio when we left.

Pineda has adequate restaurants, although some are closed some days. It's a bit 'downmarket' but that's ok as the prices were fair. Beach and train were 10 mins walk. The town is mostly locals, with tourists added. They all come out in the evening and kids play outside. No big noise lager-louts and screaming nightclubs. (This is good for us).
Watch out in Barcelona central square station, there are no toilets at all. Had to go to a shopping mall nearby.
We took an open top hop on-off bus for both zones and it lasted about 5 hours, good value though.

The nightly entertainment in the bar off the lobby was fun, depending on the night and the bar guys give generous pours. Too bad the lighting looks like a high school gym. We called it 'Butlins', but hey, it was a laugh.

Yes the rooms were small, but the food was plentiful, and for a budget holiday the Merce is a great deal.

Room Tip: Sunny south side away from church.

Me and my sisters and friend went for a long weekend in Sept this year and truthfully thought, cheap and cheerful but was very pleasantly surprised to find the pool bar food was lovely and not expensive and the staff are so so friendly. We are all 45 plus so didnt want boom boom.
Its like going back 30 years to the way they used to be with us English who sometimes we can be a bit annoying to sat the least.
My husband went the weekend after me with his friends, again just for a weekend and have just arranged to do the same again next year. They were a bit louder than us girls and did get told to keep the noise down after 1pm because they had gone outside and people were sleeping but the staff were not rude, just polite.
You cannot expect 4 star accommodation but for a cheap all rounder this hotel has no faults and the lobby bar at night really is the liveliest we had seen ( it was when we went which was end of season).

I have just returned from a week at the merce hotel and would agree that it an excellent price for the accomodation standard. The rooms are a little dated and on the small size. However downstairs in the hotel lobby and bar and restaurant there is plenty of space and who wants to stay in their room or holiday!!
The food is excellent seperate salad bars a choice of hot food from steak , Pork chops and Mussels cooked fresh in front of you, then local dishes also for you to try. The less daring foodie Pizza, chips and pasta what more could you want?
Breakfast has a selection of cereals, meats and cheeses Bacon Eggs sausages and BAKED BEANS!
The hotel is situated next to a quaint church and yes the bells do chime until mid-night and start again at 8am but hey get out and drink in the local bars or have some fun in the hotel with the entertainment that they provide from Samba and Salsa dancing, Flamenco dancing and Samurai sword swishing you wont be going to bed early.
As for location it was great for my partner and I who jumped on the local train to Barcelona to see the Merce festival 19 euros return for 2 about and hours ride but great to kick back and relax and watch the sea go by.
Once in Barcelona we used the underground buy a TT tickect for ten rides on the metro and passed this between ourselves 10 euros we travelled to the Guell park a beutiful park in the North part of the city displaying Gaudis creations (Free). Followed by a trip to Segrada Familly this is open between 9-12pm (11 euros each) before having a stroll down the rambles, some Tapas (12 euros for 3 dishes) and a vist to the market.
On our second day to Barcelona we went to la Pedra 16Euros each the chimnieys are amazing a real highlight follwed by a visit to the castle at Monjuic on the cable cars before returning to La place de Espanya to see the magic fountains.
We also travelled from Pineda to the gardens at Blanes these are trully stunning even in the winter months and it also nice to have a stroll along Blanes promenade. (Tip when at Blanes station you need to catch the bus into town) and a lazy on the beach.
Id also recommend a day at Tossa de Mar a bit of a trek to get to by train and bus 11 on the hour but once there it is very pleasent and the castle is worth a walk through the old cobbled streets busses run back to Blanes every quarter past the hour until 7.15pm.
Back in Pineada it is a very quiet spanish resort there is an indoor pool and gym and you can hire bikes from Mickeys Motors for 10 euros per day and go off into the National Park we cycled 7k up the mountain and down again was worth it but not for the faint hearted as the road goes into a steep climb and a dirt track nice views on the way down or you could just cycle into Callella a lively resort more for families and clubbers but it does have a nice beach and great shops for gifts to take home.
On friday morning Pineda is taken over by the market stalls selling jewellery, clothes fruit and veg and an ideal place ladies to pick up last minute bargains.

Room Tip: Our room was 303 quite small and a little old fashioned overlooked the church which is a bout the be...
