Our second time at this hotel. The last time was 4 years ago and we loved it then, so it was with slight trepidation that we decided to return here as we don't normally go back to places.
We needn't have worried though as the hotel was just as great as it was before. The staff were just as friendly and the fellow guests were all fantastic.
We went with 2 teenagers aged 16 and 13 and they made friends within hours of our arrival and after that we saw very little of them!
The animation team work so very hard from early in the morning until very late at night and somehow, always have a smile on their face. They entertain everyone who wants it, with organised games and activities during the day for children, teenagers and adults alike, both in the swimming pool (water volleyball, water polo and water basketball), and outside of the pool area - tennis, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and also other silly but fun games. There are also 2 cycle trips organised - one easy one along the sea front and another hard one up the nearby very steep hill! As well as archery and pistol shooting. In the evening they put on some of the best shows I have seen these type of entertainers put on, but also there was some very good acts that were brought in by the hotel too.
This trip we decided on all-inclusive as the teenagers are very thirsty and hungry all the time! It was a great decision and worked well. The food is good and fresh and plentiful, and the staff in the restaurant work so hard and are all really friendly. The bar staff are also fantastic and walk round taking orders in the evening during the entertainment, which is great.
As has been mentioned, it is the 50th anniversary of the hotel and the photos show some great timelines of the hotel, which along with the weekly fireworks and champagne evening, with the 50th anniversary show by the animation team, gives a feeling that you are actually part of the family that run the hotel, rather than a paying guest.
many people return year after year and although that would be a bit much for us, I can see why.
We did a couple of days out, one a train trip to Barcelona to visit Sagrada Familia which was fascinating, and Kelli from the hotel sorted this out for us rather than go through Thompson (thank you Kelli it was fantastic). We also went to Waterworld water park which was also good fun. We did this through Thompson as it was the same price.
We tended to base ourselves around the quieter pool as the sunbeds get "towelled" very early on the other pool area which is a bit annoying, but all you do is wander between the two areas if you want to get involved in the activities as they are done to a timetable.
All in all a great trip and I know some people have said it was not a 4* hotel, I think that is being very picky. What is important is that you are made to feel welcome, the place is clean and has everything you require for a family holiday if this is the type of holiday you want. This place has all that and more. We will return again!

Room Tip: All rooms are good but the ones overlooking the quieter pool are the best.

Just returned from a week at this hotel. I read some reviews before I went and there were quite a few people moaning about the food....I simply cannot understand this at all.. at each meal the choice was outstanding..and thats something coming from a family of fussy eaters...!
The entertainment and staff were brilliant, my kids loved the foam party!
Every member of staff in hotel was very friendly and helpful...the rooms are very clean..(beds and pillows rock hard though).
My only gripe is the resort of Pineda...I knew we were going to a quiet resort but I wasn't quite expecting it to be so quiet and in places quite dirty...although the promenade and beach was spotless...
I would definatly recommend this hotel..you will definalty have a good time!!

We have just returned from a truly amazing two weeks at this hotel. Our five-year-old loved it so much that she cried her eyes out when it was time to leave. Our other child, aged two, looked equally crestfallen when it was our departure time as we told her no pancakes for breakfast.

This hotel was simply fabulous, and we have only very minor criticisms to make. So I'll start with what was brilliant:

- Our room (380) in the newer part of the hotel. A family room with a double bed and two singles in a separate room both with TVs. It was kept spotlessly clean, and also came with a small fridge which was a welcome addition, especially as there was no charge for this. You do have to pay for a safety deposit box but we didn't bother. We found the air con made the room a little chilly at night, however.
- The cleanliness of the hotel in general. Wonderful.
- The swimming pools. We tended to stick to the 'quiet' pool (with the Taurus emblem in the tiles) as it was easy to get a sunbed at any time of day and it seemed more spacious, but like all public areas, this was kept very clean and seemed to be very well maintained. We also loved the indoor pool, but found groups of unsupervised kids to be a bit of a nuisance. The lifeguard did pop in sometimes and sort it out though.
- The food. Great choice, and we enjoyed pretty much everything. Our children can have their picky moments but they ate well and enjoyed trying new things. We were half-board, but people we spoke to who were All Inclusive said it was good.
- The animation team. My word, what a bunch of amazing people. Hard-working and enthusiastic, they were practically hero-worshipped by the children at the hotel. Our five-year-old didn't want to do much, but there was a lot on offer. We didn't get chance to to anything ourselves but everyone who took part seemed to be having fun. In the evening was the minidisco, which face painting and balloon modelling on alternate nights for the children. This was great fun but be warned, you will end up with the songs lodged deep in your brain (chu chu wah anyone?!).

One thing I really, really liked, and I fully admit I'm a bit sad, was the exhibition of old photos and other documentation from the hotel's 50-year history. It's worth taking a bit of time to look at them. You come to appreciate how much the hotel has evolved, and how meticulous maintenance has enabled the hotel to almost take on a 60s retro chic effect. Like I say, I'm a geek of the highest order, but this really fascinated me.

Although we stayed in the hotel for most of our time there, we did venture to Barcelona by train and went to the aquarium and we also went to nearby Santa Susanna, again on the train, and had a very pleasant lunch. There's a decent enough supermarket near the hotel, and a short stroll takes you to Pineda da Mar itself, which seems quite reasonable.

Other reviewers rightly mention the beach, but we enjoyed pottering about for a bit, and because it's so close, you don't feel you've wasted a journey.

One thing to be aware of, and this is really our only criticism (and it lies principally with Thomson), is that if you arrive on an early flight, your room may not be ready. Ours wasn't, and when you've been on the go since 2.45 a.m. that's not really funny. So make sure to pack some swimming stuff in your hand luggage so that you can go for a dip while you wait.

All in all, we had a terrific holiday, and if we could go back, I am certain we would!

Room Tip: Go for a room facing the large pool with the Taurus emblem; they are quieter. Plus in the newer bloc...

We stayed at the Golden Taurus for a week 27th July- 3rd Aug. 6 of us including my 8 and 10 year old children had a great time! The hotel is exceptionally clean and spacious. There are two pools either side of the main building- the main pool where they play music and the animacion team do all their activity programs, and the quieter pool where nothing happens. Both pools are excellent but be warned you do have to get up at 7am to get sunbeds at the main pool which is my only downside but its like that wherever you go in Spain in the Summer holidays I suppose! The quieter pool is less hassle and you can get a bed whatever time. However, with my children taking part in every activity we were by the main pool everyday!
The animacion team are FANTASTIC!!!! There are activities to do all day in 3 categories- 4-12yrs, teenagers, and adults. The team are great fun and enthusiastic, and when the evening comes they are keeping the kids entertained with more activities and mini-disco! The children do tend to run around the hall a lot so be warned if this sort of thing annoys you! At 10pm, the adult entertainment starts and again they run a kids club at this time which is brilliant if your children don't want to sit and watch it and you can relax too! I thought the entertainment was excellent, we've been to plenty of hotels where it's been a bit naff, but I was impressed here.
The surrounding area of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired and not much goes on, but you can walk to shops/bars etc, or there is a land train that runs all day along the beach to take you out and about. Barcelona is also an hour by train so there is lots to do if you want to go out.
The beds weren't that comfy, but the maid kept the room spotless and towels were changed daily.
Thomson reps were helpful but the timings of their kids club was not thought out for all inclusive like us - my 8 yr olds club was 1-3, but our lunch was 1-2pm only, so she often had to have a toastie from the snack bar at 12.30 and miss lunch! Then they ran another club at 6-8pm, but again dinner was not till 6.30, and the mini disco was at 8.15, so they couldn't go to that club unless they missed dinner! So we didn't really use the Thomson club much!
The food was fine, yes it did get a little repetitive but it's what I expected and we ate plenty!!
On the whole this was a fantastic holiday for us because the kids were entertained all day, which meant we could relax also! If you don't have children don't go to this hotel! I have had to promise my children we will return here as they loved it!

We had a good time at the Golden Taurus. We stayed half board for 2 weeks with Thomson.
The food quality was good, similar to other hotels we have stayed at with Thomson. The room quality was good. We had a room overlooking the pool, with a good sea view. The bed was comfortable and we had no problems with noise. The entertainment was variable. Some shows were good, such as the tributes to The Temptations and Michael Jackson, but other shows were poor such as the Mr Golden competition. The resort of Pineda was livelier than we expected. We walked to the centre in the evening and there were plenty of bars and shops, and lots of people about. We also visited Calella which has more shops and bars. You can walk or get the tourist bus which stops outside the hotel. This hotel is especially good for families, as there are lots of activities for children.

We stayed at the Golden Taurus May/June. The room was lovely, was roomy enough for 2 weeks stay, our room maid was a little slap dash. Rest of the hotel was very clean. The pool areas were wonderful. Thomson reps were really helpful. We were not that impressed with the food, the show cooked food most nights was not fully cooked. Tried most the soups and did not taste of anything. Meat was always very cheap cuts, as it was tough/fatty. The worst part of our time at the Golden Taurus was the Maitre d, he has no time for his customers except the people he knows. One of his staff was new and needed guidance, as we were not happy with her we mentioned to the under Maitre d that we had not been served with drinks by the young lady, he was very apologetic and got our drinks order, the Maitre d came over and told us that we were not to have done that, that she must serve us, when we explained how long we had waited he still said we were wrong, when I asked to see his Manger he scuttled off and never returned. After talking to other guests and other hotel staff about the incident many said he was not the most like member of staff and found out the under Maitre d was his son!!!. The Maitre d needs more training as well as his staff. The pool areas were wonderful. Thomson reps were really helpful. We don't think we'll return to this hotel.
