Reviewed July 28, 2013

went to festa apartments in july 2013 and it was lovely! we stayed in festamar and it was everything we needed.....spacious, clean and well equipped.
Had a couple of issues with room..... but Mr fix it was there straight away to make it right.
A nice walk into town and a beautiful beach.....ask about the free kids club for 4-11 yr olds, our son loved it especially the day he learned CPR!!! he's 5 but still practices on me 2 weeks later!
best places to eat are quite near to the hotel....hollywood round the corner has by far the best pizza and fancy near the town has fantastic cheap menu of the day......gorgeous food there!

We had a weeks stay at the festamar in October 2005 with the weather on average about 80 degrees. The hotel was clean and tidy with a medium sized pool but beware the water is cold because the sun does not get on it much.
Good location 5 mins from the beach.
The food in dino's was ok but it was hard work trying to get a smile out of the staff!
Beware of going in October to Estartit because the resort closes towards the end of September so most places were closed.

We stayed for 2 nights with 3 friends. The apartments are ok but only for staying for no more than 2 -3 nights. They don't change towels nor sheets except you ask them to.
The best part is the bakery that is located in front of the hotel where they have fresh croissants and fresh orange juice which they give to you in glass bottles.
The hotel is walking distance close to the beach and the centre.
A little bit too pricy for what they give in exchange, but it was august. Still, I'd recommend it!

Hm, a little hard to provide an appropriate rating here. Price was all right, cleanliness was blemishless, the appartment offered quite some space. Location of the hotel is also all right - some distance to the restaurant and shopping areas. So actually, the overall rating should be something like a 3.5.

We liked Estartit so much that we went back again this year! To be fair, the resort is one for a beach and relaxing walking holiday. I'm not sure what you'd do if it rained for a week while you were there as there's essentially only one shopping street and a bowling alley. There's only so many times you can look at beach equipment or try aftershave or perfume...
Having said that, the beach is fantastic and get yourself down to see Josef, a real character who, with his son, hires out sun beds and parasols by the water's edge.
The real attraction of the apartments is that the beach is 200 yards away. There's an excellent supermarket one minute from reception where you can buy warm baguettes and croissants/pastries for breakfast. The apartment has a fridge, so you can stock up on bottled water and keep it chilled nicely.
We stayed in Festamar, the closest to the beach. Our apartment was again very clean and it is well kitted out with cutlery and crockery. There's a microwave, kettle and oven/hob if you can be bothered (but hey, you're on holiday!) and the beds are clean and serviceable, if a little on the hard side. The balconies are great for watching the world go by and are good-sized, with a very useful and sizeable clothes dryer for the beach towels and swimming costumes.
Our buzzer didn't work, nor did the extractor fan in the bathroom, but neither especially bothered us. There's a TV too with various channels, though only BBC world news 24 in English - we are in Spain, so why expect otherwise!
Staff are pleasant, you can hire a security box and there's a good-sized pool and plenty of sun beds. Mind you, the latter were not especially comfortable.
Other tips? The best restaurant is thirty seconds from the door - La Pineda. They serve a wide range of food, all beautifully cooked. We'd heartily recommend the squid rings, half chicken, chicken in oporto sauce, the ribs (best I've had outside Memphis) and the pork skewers were great, as was the paella. The staff are delightful, with Mika and Danny very attentive and pleasant.
At the other end of town, overlooking the harbour, try Il Volante, where you can choose from various options over four courses, plus wine and bread for 12 euros per person. There's also a stunning, but a little demanding walk up to the top of the hill overlooking the town that is well worth it for astonishing views.
You can get a bus to Toroella for around 3 euros and to Girona for 5.5 euros. Buses are air conditioned and comfy and the people were very pleasant.
Verdict - thumbs up from us!

Reviewed July 6, 2010

We last visited Estartit on our honeymoon 24 years ago, and this time went with the kids, aged 19 and 13. On the way there the thought crossed our minds that the previous experience was perhaps a false one and our good memories the result of just being married. Would we enjoy it - equally to the point would two teenagers?

Thankfully the answer was yes. We stayed at the Festa Mar apartments which is a 10-15 minute walk from the main shopping area but a mere two minutes from the beach. Crucially it also has a supermarket across the road, where fresh bread, croissants and pastries can be purchased daily, together with a lovely local restaurant across the road (more later).

The apartment was excellent. It was very clean, the staff were excellent and very accommodating and the rooms had most things you might need. We had a two bedroom apartment and there was plenty of wardrobe space, a good sitting area, TV and enough crockery to host a dinner party. They even had a bottle opener...There was a long balcony offering views of the sea and it was a nightly spot to have a nighttime drink before bed. There were no creepy crawlies either, important if you're going to warmer climes.

The beach and resort are still lovely. The sand is perfect and you can go well into the slowly shelving sea before it gets deep. A succession of buoys marks the depths and there are plenty of lifeguards around, just in case. The promenade is flat and beautifully clean, while the shopping area is small but has most things you'll need. There's also a pretty little harbour and we'd recommend the boat trip on the Nautilus which offers a look at the undersea world of the Medes Islands.

If you're looking for a lively holiday it is not for you, but for a relaxing, recharge the batteries-type break it is perfect.

Food? Look no further than Las Pinedas, a small, understated place that offers a wide menu, beautifully cooked and presented, as well as being served by very pleasant staff. Les Salines is good for fish (but pricey) by the harbour, while Kon-Tiki on the promenade offers good food, if again a little expensive for some things. Their paella is very good though, but for al round excellence and price Las Pinedas takes some beating.

Verdict? Well, at the end of our stay the kids said they'd love to go back, which must count for something, while my wife and I found the place as lovely as it was way back when.

I'd say that was a vote of confidence!

Found No faults with his complex, but some of the other holiday makers did, but that is their story. I would go back here anytime. Really enjoyed my stay there.
