Restaurant Hotel Picasso
Reviewed March 19, 2014

We arrived at The Picasso as the last leg of our 8 day family cycle. The longest leg for our children at 35 kms. It had very good facilities lovely spacious comfortable and clean rooms. Dinner was ok but we felt that some dishes were not cooked fresh on the day such as the paella. Another Belgium couple also thought the same as we did.

The hotel had a friendly family feel to it.

The breakfast was a big disappointment - sadly. The orange juice machine was like something out of a Jacques Tati film. However you tried to dispense it the floor ended up flooded!! Once seen never forgotten.

It bad a nice clean good sized pool. Lovely views. It was close to a lovely beach about 1 km away.

It was in our opinion hopeless as a destination for a family cycle as it was about 15 km to L'Estartit and the same back - too far for an 8 year old.

We felt there were too many extras to add to our dinner bill. Not the right location for us cycling and the food was not as good we had
expected from reports.

This is not an easy place to find, one need a GPS or good map. But the place is very nice if you want to spend a night or two away from the cities. Many Spaniads go there from Barcelona and cities in the north. The beaches are 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The staff do not speak English, as this hotel really caters to Spaniads, (being far from Barcelona 2 1/2 hours. ) but the service is good

The restaurant is excellent for their seafood, especially lobster. It was very good, but my taste personally is fried lobster with scallions and ginger, a la chinoiserie. Other dishes were very well presented and delicious.
We were a part of 8, so were given a side room, which was nice as we could have some privacy there. We were brought by friends from Torroella , a near by town.
This trip was part family and part friends.

Spent five days with my husband and two sons. As it is advertised as a one star (two at best) on booking sites we didn't know what to expect. Anyway, had a wonderful time there. It was very relaxing. Staff were quite friendly although with hardly any English and the owners were friendly when we had to engage in conversation and they both had excellent English. Good points: we loved the location - so near a quiet and clean beach. the property was nicely decorated and the restaurant was excellent and such good value. We dined there for lunch three times and dinner twice. the pool and pool area was excellent and the pool seemed to have a mixture of chlorine and sea salt and was wonderfully warm and a lot bigger than we thought from looking at the pictures. our room was large and the whole place was spotlessly clean. bad points: the air conditioning didn't seem to work too well - we didn't complain so can't argue that one too much. Our family room consisted of a double bed and a sofa bed for two. the sofa bed was not that comfortable for our two gangly teenage sons. we had thought looking at photos that we would get family room with bunk beds - but how and ever. The owner had suggested we could have another bed in the room if we required but the configuration of the room wouldn't really make this feasible. On a few occassions we had to query portions we were given i.e. the wrong sized portions (smaller ones as from the set menu they offer) even though we would have ordered from a la carte (we knew portion sizes were different as we had ordered from both). Also charged wrong (increased) price on occassion for wine and minerals....minor gripes but this only ever happened when owner took our order - I am sure this was just an unfortunate coincidence. Anyway, overall very happy with the stay and we were never more than ten/fifteen minutes drive from some lovely towns esp. Peratallada and Begur.

Room Tip: in hot weather make sure you have a room that has proper air conditioning.

Close to the Beach of Gola de Ter, you can find a good place for luch. There are two menu options, from monday ti friday is cheaper than the weekend, ( three € more exoensive aprox ), yu can chose between a one dish and dessert menu and a traditional one with starter main and dessert. We took the one dish, that has side dishes, salad, pasta, and fries ( all three included ) and the you can choose meat (chicken breast, lamb.... ) or fish ( very good ). Price it's arround 12 €, service good and place correct. Fair for a day in the beach. I will return for sure.

The rooms are nice, there's a nice and quiet beach nearby but the service isn't so good. Most of the time there's no one at the reception when you need someone. There was only one women who could help us in English (she was very nice by the way). Normally when you reserved dinner, water is included. When we checked out, we had to pay 2.80 euro for 1 liter of water !!! We ordered some wine at dinner, they didn't show us the winecard: so when we checked out, seemed they had given us the most expensive wine... Not so nice...
There's no elevator so be prepared on carrying your luggage.

We spent a couple of nights at this delightful, well hidden gem and really wished we could have stayed longer. We had been in the area a couple of years ago but had stayed at another hotel which was nowhere near as good as this one. The rooms are just lovely and the bathrooms are superb. Our balcony overlooked the road but there is so little traffic so that was not a problem. I enjoyed watching the horses across the street. Excellent and reasonably priced restaurant and lovely breakfasts complete the deal. The staff are super friendly and the decor is welcomg. I would happily go back.

This was a lovely surprise, we booked in here at the last minute to break up our journey down to the Costa Blanca. The room was just what we wanted with a lovely view over the pool, great bathroom (something that I always look for) and a nice restaurant.
Book in here if you want somewhere quiet to just chill for a while.
