Have just returned from an extended weekend stay whilst visitng family in Andalucia. The hotel was eveything we expected and more. The staff were genial and welcoming, the room spacious and clean, and very nicely furnished. The bed was so big that I had difficulty finding my partner in the morning! Free WiFi a huge bonus. The breakfast was exemplerary, and included cava which got each day off to a very good start. All the facilities were top notch, the pool area being the most outstanding feature. No slides or 'kids' facilities, a very 'adult' pool: hydrobeds, massage waterfalls, a salt water lake and a stream that circumnavigated the pool area. Bliss! There are some negatives. Some areas could do with minor sprucing (pool tiles cracked, missing. The Spa entrance could be attended to, also). Also, I think resident car-parking should be free, but these are minor quibbles to what is an amazing space. It's really the only decent hotel on Las Marinas strip, too, but with the great deal I got from Otel.com it was affordable luxury.

Visited this hotel from the 11th October until the 20th October, should have stayed there until the 25th, but, unfortunately the hotel closed early and we were transferred to the Playa Luna which is next door, for the last 5 days. Cannot fault the Protur on anything. We stayed there before it became the Protur (it was formerly the Portobello which was rubbish). What a difference, from start to finish the staff could not do enough for you.The restaurant was very spacious and the food, well, what can one say about the food except that it was excellent. Breakfast one of the best that we have ever had with the eggs and bacon being freshly cooked to order. The pool area was immaculate and there was not one sunbed that was broken, which is unbelievable. O.K., there were not many of us staying there so we never had a problem finding a sunbed. Compliments to the staff and especially to Pedro the director who seemed to be on hand all the time, inspecting everything. Pity we had to be moved but we hope that everyone who worked there has found some employment to carry them over until next April. Each and everyone of you deserve 5 Stars.

Room Tip: Try for a sea view room, you pay extra but it will be worth it in the end.

Went there with my partner the last week of September for a 10 nights half board stay. Very impressive looking hotel, best hotel in the area, had a large double sea view room (highly recommend as you get a full view of the beach) which is only a stone throw away, very spacious bathroom with 2 sinks (though the towel bar fell off the wall near the end of our stay and was never fixed, just kind of left hanging by housekeeping). Had a few hitches when we checked in 1) wifi strength was non existent in the room though it was advertised as free wifi in all rooms, spoke to the receptionist but nothing was done until the manager on duty saw my partner and I sitting in the lounge with our laptop and iPad and promptly reconnected us and had great reception since! 2) safe would not reset password so we had to get the maintenance to come reset the safe; 3) telephone was not working and only found out when we went to reception to enquire; 4) the computer issuing the hotel credit card (for charging various purchases during the stay ie bar bill, spa) upon check in wasn't working so we had to go back later to collect later on. Other than these minor hitches at the beginning, the rest of our stay was very pleasant. The manager on duty during most of our stay was very friendly and helpful, made every effort to make sure we were enjoying ourselves throughout our stay.
As we were staying half board, the breakfast buffet selection has a wide variety to chose from; the dinner buffet consisted much of a selection of tinned vegetables for the salad bar but plenty of various fish and meat main courses, all quite delicious as far as buffets are concerned and there was always plenty to chose from.
All in all, we had a lovely stay at the hotel, as it was not high season so it was fairly quiet which was perfect for us looking to relax and enjoy the sun without too many people around the pool. Would recommend it to anyone coming to Roquetas de mer.

Hotel
Downstairs the Protur Roquetas Hotel & Spa is spacious with a huge atrium housing the reception, leading to spacious seating areas, indoor water features, a large restaurant. Above tower two open five story accommodation wings that form a horseshoe surrounding the outside pool area, facing the beach.
In contrast the rooms appeared a little on the small side, as if the architect was told to squeeze additional rooms into each of the wings, the family rooms are also small and quite cramped for 2 adults and one child.
In addition the atrium has a small bar, that appeared out of place, as if forgotten in the original plans.
Called a spa hotel, in the basement is a small spa, to which there is a charge to use. It has limited opening hours. Shut in the afternoon until 17.00.

Staff
The staff were always very friendly and helpful.

Bar
For a late drink remember the afore mentioned bar, closes at midnight sharp, not at 1am as in the hotel information. Not really a problem as the Hotel Player Lunar next door was open.

I visited this hotel on the 18th Sept '12 for 7 nights,it's a beautiful hotel. The staff are always there for you,the rooms are very clean and spacious. The food is extremely good with a huge variety. The pool is the best I have ever seen with ample, very comfortable sunbeds, loungers an chairs. The thing I noticed with this 5* hotel hotel was the quality of people. Not sounding snobbish but they conduct themselves in a much more adult manner than some 3-4* hotels I have visited.I would definatelt return to this hotel.A massive thumbs up to all the staff

Room Tip: some of the top floors have jacuzis but they are a tad expensive

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for one week in the beginning of september. We ware there to celebrate our 10 years wedding anniversary. Included in our price was breakfast and dinner and omg the food at this hotel was awesome just like everything else there.
The staff is friendly and very helpful, our room and the hotel was very clean, the swimming pool and the garden was great and it only took one minute to walk to the beach.
The only thing that could make this hotel even better is if they had pay per view because all of the television stations ware in spanish.

Room Tip: get a room with a view over the sea

Just returned from a week at Protur Roquetas hotel in Roquetas de Mar and we had a very enjoyable stay, We booked 3 days before departure through Travel Republic and everything went smoothly, and we got a good deal, We were on bed and breakfast basis preferring to eat out at night time, The hotel is rated 5 star but other Hotels nearby were all 4 star and seemed to be just as good so maybe they would be worth looking at if the Protur was too expensive, The location is great , right on the beach, and to sit on the balcony in the evening and watch the waves crashing in on the coastline was great, All in all a great place for a week away and I must mention the flights, BMI baby from East Midlands were excellent on both journeys, Such a shame that they no longer exist after today, it was a great little airline with reliable service at a reasonable price,
just a word of warning about the Taxi transfers from the Airport to Roquetas de Mar, I had looked at a web site and seen that the taxi fare was 27 euro each way so didnt book the option with Travel Republic but the correct price is either 48 or 57 euro depending on the time of day you travel, The hotel arranged our shuttle transfer back to the Airport and it was only 36 euro,
