“Good Holiday to Relax on”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2011

Though I cant imagine what sort of hell the area becomes when the masses descend July onwards but it works quite well "off season" as a relaxing location to holiday.
At weekends it does become like an old peoples home as the Spanish OAPs (who get free holidays courtesy of the Spanish government 'sic EU aka us) but they seemed mostly friendly and cheerful so who cares.

I wouldn't advice the area for young couples; people who dont like Mediterranean food or people looking for a night life (there isn't one). This is an area that was once, not so long ago, mostly fishing towns and is only pretty much now a purpose built tourism belt on the sea front. Its a hotel and area visited by allot of the Spanish.

If you do go here its worth going out and seeing places like Granada and surrounding areas and coughing up for the various tours, you may be with the coffin dodgers but at least you'll get the most out of the area; better still hire a car and drive their yourself.

Hotel has a kiddy pool, big pool and an indoor pool that for some reason they dont advertise (its hidden near the back of the restaurant). All immaculate and clean.

Food is as you'd hopefully expect in southern spain, local fish, tomatoes, pasta, lots of pork, various mixed salads, grilled veg, and a selection of puddings. Puddings don't vary much but theres ice creams in the freezer and they're nestle (quite nice).
You could always walk down the front (right) to colostomo which is friendly and Gerardos. or (left) towards the castle where just after there are some really, really, fresh fish restaurants and tapas bars.

Room Tip: Worth getting a sea view as the front is buildings

Stayed here for a week at the end of August. Hotel very clean, food well cooked even if a little repetitive, however always plenty to eat. Wherever you go to hotels with only one restauraunt you get the same issues, so anyone travelling to a hotel like this should know what to expect. The food as I said though was always well prepared and cooked.

Bedrooms a little dated, however again very clean. To be honest you only ever sleep in them so I couldn't find an issue.

Location right on the beach so within a minute and you're off your lounger and into the sea.

The entertainment wasn't great, however the Spanish seemed to enjoy it. You are in Spain remember !

We generally went for walks at night and used different bars. Jan and Dave at Bar Spinnaker were very hospitable.

It has been said on previous reviews that the Spanish can be rude, we never found that. DIrect at times maybe, however that I feel is only down to the fact that they don't speak English that well, hence they try ............. Pretty much what we're like when we try and speak Spanish !

All in all, no issues with this hotel, would go back

We have been to this hotel and its sister hotel "The Park", equally as good from1995 until June 2010. We have been to other destinations in between but always go back.

Roquetas is a real gem, the real Spain. Great uncrowded beaches and a real spanish flavour. Locals are very friendly and if you try to speak a little Spanish they love it.

The hotel is right on the beach with a magnificant swimming pool. Food is a bit repetative but there are several options on the complex and also lots of restaurants nearby which are reasonably priced.

I would reccomend this hotel for most folks but there is not much for teenagers. Mainly for couples with young families, solo people and also for over fifties. BRILLIANT

The Zoraida Garden hotel was very clean and as we were travelling with 2 small children this was very reassuring. The furniture in the rooms were a little dated but the decor was fresh and very clean. We paid a little extra to have a room with a sea view which we would highly recommend. This also means you get a view over the pool area and the evening entertainment which went on until midnight which although was loud our 2 children managed to sleep through it.

We stayed half board which included breakfast and evening meal which was a buffet style with a good choice to suite the whole family.

The pool facilities were great but if you wanted a sunbed with a parasol you needed to have your towels in place by about 7am.

The beach was very accessible from the hotel where you could hire sunbeds with parasol for 3 euros per day which we did as it did get very hot.

The resort seemed to be popular with the Spanish and was very family orientated. Overall weI would be more than happy to go there again.

We were originaly booked into the Park, but they didn't have enough guests to open it so we were changed to the Garden.
On arrival we were told by a very nice receptionist - who spoke good English, that we had been up-graded to full board because of the inconvenience.
We had read the reviews on these hotels and were a little anxious but the stay was great.
The staff were friendly, the hotel was spotless, the food was good. The view over the pool and the sea from the balcony were just as the brochure showed.
We had booked this area because we wanted a quiet holiday, but it was very quiet, we think it could be due to the recession because the whole place was fairly empty.
On the plus side - no fighting for sun beds, you could get one at any time of day!
There were a lot of older guests but they were from all areas - not just 'Spanish pensioners' as has been said in previous reviews.
The entertainment was patchy - the Flamenco was brilliant but the music was old fashioned - probably catering for the audience they had - the entertainment team seemed young so I guess they would alter the style to suit the audience.
All 'announcements' were given in at least 3 langauges so you always knew what was going on.
The hotel is not in the resort centre, that's about 15 mins away and the port, which is also worth walking to is about 20 mins away in the opposite direction.
We would recommend the Aloha cafe bar (turn left out of the beach entrance and about 5 mins along the prom) great sangria!
Happy hour in the hotel bar was also good, 2 for 1 from 8pm till 9pm.
We would also recommend a trip to the Alhambra Palace - well worth it!
If you are used to a buzzing resort - this place won't be for you, but we enjoyed it.
Be warned - it can also be VERY BREEZY.

we arrived at zoraida gardens and the first thing that hits you is the large and lovely reception area, the rooms were very clean and we had a sea view which was breath taking. The food was plenty, only down fall was the bacon it was streaky but still ok. did't have to wait long for the lifts either, as soon as you press the button the lift was there. staff was very friendly, and spoke good english. we would recommend anyone to stay here. anyone who has said they did't like it at zorada gardens, must be very hard to please, and i would't take any notice of the reviews that say it was bad, i dare you to try it for yourself, and i bet you love it.
