Just had a great stay for my birthday at the Hesperia Sabinal in Roquetas with my mates.
The hotel is Excellent. Great value for money, good facilities, great location, terrific weather, good food, great desk and room service, nice friendly staff, nice clean rooms.
We found an authentic Spanish tapas bar las gambos de oro and had several great nights there.
Also have to mention cullers bar well worth a visit.

My wife and myself have just returned from the Hesperia Sabinal having taken a late booking (end of September) to catch the last of the sun before Winter sets in here in the UK.

The hotel is only about 3/4 of an hour from the airport so reasonably close without too much traveling involved. Our holiday rep (Marcia) was very informative regarding the hotel and the resort and suggested different places to see whilst there. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and were checked in to the hotel. However our room was at the rear of the hotel and we had to pay an extra 5 euros per night to move rooms to have a sea view room.

The hotel and room was clean and tidy and the staff throughout our stay were obliging, cheerful and friendly, just as you would expect from a 4* hotel, even free Wi-Fi covering most areas. There were however several little issues, which although not major issues I am going to knock a half * from the ratings.

First I would have liked a kettle in the room to have that "welcome brew" which I'm sure most of us would like after travelling, we could not even rent one from reception, so don't forget to pack yours. Secondly if you want to keep any drinks cold while you are there you have to rent a fridge from reception (no idea of cost, didn't bother). Thirdly I would have liked to have seen a quiet room where you could escape from the noise of the evening entertainment if you preferred to read, play cards or just have a quiet chat.

On the whole the Sabinal was a good hotel with a very edible choice of varied meals, situated virtually on the beach (shingle beach) but in my opinion loses the half * for little things which could make it a very good hotel.

Room Tip: Pay the extra 5 Euros for a sea view room and don't forget the travel kettle.

Sabinal good hotel, nice bedrooms (although ours overlooked car park at rear). Huge dining room which was always very busy, and food very good with lots of choice both for breakfast and evening meal. Lovely pool, (although flies a nuisance, and apparently very bad in high season), and gate straight onto lovely promenade which stretched for miles (although in full sun with very little shade).

Entertainment every night, usually duo, with some ballroom and disco type dancing. Music always in Spanish, nothing at all in English. No guide books or travel brochures for English tourists. Would seem only to cater for Spanish guests.

We thought hotel was in the main area of Roquetas which is a very large resort, and where Port, Lighthouse, and Castle were situated, but instead Sabinal is at Roquetas Urb. which is about 3 miles from the main town. Very long walk into main town, about 50 minutes each way walking along promenade and about 15 minutes on bus. Roquetas Urb. is very small, with practically nothing to do, and one short main shopping street. Lots of hotels, shops and restaurants were closed being out-of-season, and many of the coach trips were cancelled due to lack of clients.

The Sabinal is only good for folks who like just lazing about, and wanting a quiet and restful holiday, as there is very little else to do there.

Room Tip: Request room overlooking pool area, otherwise you will be facing car park and road.

We stayed at this hotel in September and could not fault anything, with either, food, drink or staff.

In fact everything was better than expected and the location was ideal for walking out to various bars and restuarants if required.

My mother mislad her handbag on the day we left and we never thought we would see again. However, the hotel posted this to us at our home address and all contents were in tact. We were delighted with this and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anybody.
