Family of 2 adults, a 4 year old and a 4 month old baby on a B&B basis.

Positives:
Easy to find from Faro airport.
Were able to check in on arrival at 12pm.
Comfy beds and pillows.
2 bedroom apartment was spacious and had good facilities on the whole.
Pool was mostly quite quiet with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas (although they are likely to fall over in the wind).
Snacks from pool bar were tasty and reasonably priced.
Had lunch in the buffet restaurant. Reasonably priced and plenty of choice but I suspect this would get boring quickly on All Inclusive.
Friendly and approachable staff.
Pool towels a nice touch.
Area on the beach with free sunbeds and parasols is a nice idea, if you can find it. Shame no toilet facilities nearby though.
Train to the beach and centro commercial is helpful (although we didn't use it).
Regular activities around the pool - aqua aerobics and some kids activities.
Spa is nice and once there was a special offer on massages they were reasonably priced.
Maid service every day if you want it, including fresh towels. Bedding changed every 3 days I think.
Washing machine and laundry drying area was VERY useful with 2 small children!
Dishwasher also very handy as we did eat in quite a bit.
Nice shower gel and soap in the bathroom.
Although this was not confirmed before arrival the travel cot provided was a good size and had an extra mattress on that was comfortable, not just the basic hard one that comes with it.

Negatives:
Oven/microwave combo was a good idea but instructions would have been useful.
Same goes for the hob - not the easiest to operate.
Could have done with a corkscrew in the apartment and also a colander for draining pasta.
Breakfast a bit limited and very busy.
Maid sometimes came at 9am which was a bit early!
Doorbells are way too loud!
A larger kitchen bin, or more bins in the apartment would have been useful.

Would return to the hotel in the future as we enjoyed our stay.

One thing we would have found useful to know, especially as we have small children who go to bed around 7:30pm, is that almost all restaurants and shops in the resort close for siesta from about 4pm until 8 or 8:30pm. We spent a very hungry evening traipsing around looking for a restaurant on the first night and eventually only found a burger king that was open. Once we adjusted our routine a bit though we did find a couple of nice restaurants. Pavarotti's in La Antilla being the best.

Room tip: We had top floor but facing the road, which can get quite loud of an evening.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment and it was lovely on the ground floor so we had a grassed area which extended our outside area.
We stayed all inclusive and it was worth it food and drink plentiful a great variety of both.
Food was good we never starved and different options each evening and lunchtime.
Breakfast had a better continental choice than the hot offering but again all tasty.

Hotel grounds and pool areas are immaculate and despite a few reviews that state otherwise we found all the staff friendly polite and very hard working.

Gorgeous spacious apartments with great beds and bedding in fact best hotel bed we have ever slept in. Rooms cleaned daily by a wonderful housekeeping team.

This was our first time to this part of Spain we wanted a more traditional area and something relaxing with a lot of comfort and boy we got it, thanks Ama Islantilla.

Went for a week through Thomas Cook in June 2019. Hotel had a train with 3 carriages that took you down to a small supermarket and a few shops about 5 off. Then above them are about 4 different eating places. That is it nothing else so l hired a car to get about. If you don't want to drive then you have a problem as towns are a fair distance so buses are not to frequent and taxis will cost you to get about. The hotel was a great size and very clean all over outside and in the rooms. 2 big pools and 2 small pools. The room we were in was a great size and no complaints there. We were only bed and breakfast and I found the breakfast disappointing. Overall the area is in rural Spain with shops closing from 14.00 to 17.00 and eating places from 16.00 to 20.00 I personally would not recommend this as a holiday destination.

We've just returned from a week at the Sentido Ama Islantilla and had a fantastic time. We opted for all inclusive and stayed in one of the apartments which was much larger than we had anticipated with a kitchen, living/dining area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Our apartment also had two balconies. The beds and bedding were extrememly comfortable, so much so that I have tried to find the pillows since I returned home. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower and the whole apartment was very well lit with lots of natural light. However at night there are electric blinds fitted to the outside of the windows which blocked most of the light allowing for a decent nights sleep.

The food at the hotel was great, we've been to a lot of all inclusives and this was a typical buffet style restaurant but with really good quality options. There was fruit available as well as a variety of hot and cold options and there were always three pasta options. The menu is quite seafood focussed, but being near the coast we had anticipated this and the variety meant that you weren't stuck with just fish if this wasn't to your taste. The tapas restaurant is also very good and extremely good value at EUR 15 per head for a three course taster meal. The drinks were also included in this. The house wine was great and the pool bar serves sangria during the day. Our only criticism of the food and drinks were that not everything during the day was all inclusive, for example some of the pool bar food was an additional cost. We expected this to be the case with the a la carte and branded spirits but most all inclusives have ice cream and pizza at the pool or beach bars included.

The pool area is very clean, with a more child friendly area to the right and a more adult area to the left of the complex. The pool is cold but great on a really hot day. There are a lot of sun loungers with loads of parasol's included. It is a bit cheeky that you have to pay EUR 30 per day for use of the sun lounger beds considering that we'd paid for all inclusive and you could tell that most people thought this was excessive by how infrequently they were used.

The gym area is also well equipped with an outdoor terrace and a lot of lower weight free weights. I'm not sure it would be suited to anyone used to lifting really heavy weights but there are lots of cardio options too.

There is very little to do in the area if you're not interested in golf. However if you are the golf course is a five minute walk away and it's quite challenging which made for a great afternoon. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel if you're looking for a relaxing week away.
