First of all - the cottage is pretty remote. It's 5 mins away from nearest village - San Vico - which has an excellent supermarket, restaurant and bar. Other than that you are 15 mins away from the next nearest 'useful' village - Otricoli - which has a couple of lovely restaurants, an ice cream bar, and a supermarket.
So, 5 mins down a very steep part sealed road, and then a very rough track. We had a Fiesta - and ideally I would have liked a 4x4 - but it coped ok.
The plus points of the house are many - a lovely terrace, fantastic pool, plenty of green space.
We had no hot water for the whole week - which wasn't ideal. There was a problem with either the boiler or the pump into the house. This was obviously pretty annoying.
One day of rain - and we went to Orte - and got the train to Rome for lunch.
The kitchen is pretty basic - but the owners will show you their outside oven, and fire - on which we cooked most of the food when we ate at home.
Three bedrooms - there were 5 of us - and plenty of room. No air conditioning - but there are a few fans.
Bathroom was pretty - but shower was unusable due to hot water issue. Lovely sitting room, with a tv - which we didn't really use.
Despite it being so remote - our kids were very happy. The pool is very safe, as is the environment. Loved it.
