“Picturesque Umbria”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

Stayed in "Noce" apartment for a week, and I was in heaven. The gardens, views of the vineyards, tasteful decorations and antique furniture and most of all the attention Claudia and Odetta gave us made this my favorite spot in Italy. We could access all the towns we wanted to drive to like Sienna, Cortona, Assisi, Spello, Todi and Montefalco at the max of one hour by car.
We appreciated the tranquil, relaxing and peaceful atmosphere of this site after having spent the day in crowded areas. I have been going there for the past few years, and always look forward
to going to the charming nearby hill town of Solomeo to shop at Brunello Cucinelli outlet. Hardly an outlet though as it is one of the most elegant places to shop! Claudia suggested the best restaurants with amazing memorable food in Todi and Montefalco. She is knowledgable in so many areas, especially art, and she speaks several languages. I have gone in May with spring flowers and July to lounge around the beautiful pool with a glass of wine that she recommended.
You will want to return to this paradiso. Deborah H

Room Tip: I liked the 2 bedroom apartment called Noce, but the rooms in the main building are spacious and wel...

You are really too kind, we truly feel we are fulfilling our mission when our guests tell us how much they enjoyed staying with us... I admit it is not entirely our merit, we definitely owe a great deal to all this beauty and history and excellencies to discover everywhere in Umbria; it makes our job much easier. Thank you for your appreciation and for taking the time to share it on tripadvisor, It has been our pleasure having you, we are looking forward to your next visit!

From the first moment that we stepped through the door of the Casale, we were made to feel so incredibly welcome. We were greeted by Claudia, who ran the bed and breakfast, and Odetta, who saw to all of our needs for the duration of our stay. Claudia spoke fantastic English which was very comforting to us and we had quite a lot of fun trying to keep up with her, also very impressive German. She regaled us with some amazing stories about the history of the place and her families impact on the surrounding area. Odetta provided us with outstanding breakfasts every morning which included cakes, pastries as well as cereals, ham, eggs and a varied selection of hot and cold drinks. The rooms were spacious and elegant and the views of the countryside were superlative. We highly recommend the Casale to anyone who values great customer service and we look forward to returning on our next trip to Italy.

We have stayed a week in this special place and enjoyed every minute. It is located in a rural area, but very convenient to reaching the highway. The building has much charm, is beautifully decorated and is located between olive trees and vineyards. The service was wonderful as well.

We arrived after dark in Magione, followed our GPS-system and arrived in a totally wrong place in Magione... After ca 30 min of riding and looking and searching, we called Il Casale di Magione. Odetta, the concierge and caretaker of Il Casale, immediately was very friendly and proposed to come and pick us up at the supermercato. Apparently this happened before, some gps-systems do not have the address for this B&B. Luckily Odetta was there, because we probably would have never found it ourselves...

Il Casale della Staffa is a very nice B&B, very beautiful, very neat and very good taken care of. Very calm and relaxing and beautiful environment and beautiful views.
We have had a superb experience thanks to Odetta. She informs, she takes care, she makes sure her customers are happy and satisfied. She really is a star in hospitality!

Really tranquil and relaxing location yet close to the main road Perugia / Florence, which make it very convenient to take day trips to beautiful Umbrian locations; Tuscany is very close too.
A conversation with the owner about wine or local art is not to be missed if you love the same things but must be definitely avoided if you are in a hurry :-)

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Ideally situated in the green heart of Umbria the agriturismo Casale della Staffa is a typical Umbrian farm dating from 1440 and transformed into an elegant country residence where the guests are warmly welcomed in a homely atmosphere. The main building comprises five large rooms, one suite, two self-catering apartments and various cosy lounge areas. Like the main building, the additional annexes were finely restored, and turned into independent cottages with kitchenette available for rent on a weekly basis in the summer and for a minimum three day stay the rest of the year. All rooms and apartments are bright, airy with the traditional wooden beams on the ceiling and are elegantly furnished with antiques and artisanal furniture, ironwork, and traditional Umbrian loom weaved fabrics for a tasteful and cozy feeling of home away from home. The Casale features also a swimming pool with a large sun terrace, overlooking the vineyard and the olive groves. The hotel is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves that cover the hilly surroundings of Montemelino di Magione, just a few kilometers from Lake Trasimeno and about 15 km from the historical town of Perugia and its many attractions. It is an ideal base from which to visit the cities of art in Umbria and Tuscany, such as Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Todi, Cortona, Florence and Siena among many others are just 10 to 150 Km. away. ... more   less
