“The ultimate holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2011

This year we spent our holiday in Tuscany. It was our first holiday without children so we looked for a quiet, traditional accommodation in the Tuscan countryside. What we saw on arrival was much more than we had expected. The beautiful surroundings, the stunning views, the secluded garden with swimmingpool and the traditional buildings.
It was like heaven.
Moreover, Angelo was the perfect host. After a warm welcome he offered us some traditional food and a bottle of very nice wine. We talked a lot about Tuscany, interesting sights, the live in Italy and he gave us advice on what to visit.
Sometimes he even brought us some refreshing drinks when we were relaxing at the swimmingpool. We never asked for it, he just did it.
We think it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. A wonderful accommodation with a perfect host. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Angelo, Dora and I would like to thank you very much and please send our regards to Humerto and the rest of the residents of Casino Valorecci.

Cassina Valloreci was amazing! It was my second time in Tuscany and talk about a step in the right direction - the fig trees, olive groves, grape arbors, and we were there, in a traditional Tuscan country farm house, with the best hosts. The location is central to the villages, small and large. The setting is an agricultural eden. The people are filled with joy for life and intellectual curiosity. If you go to Tuscany, stay here.

We were very lucky to find Casina Valloreci at the last moment, through friends. The proprietors, Angelo and Umberto, have created a little paradise out of an old farm. Set amidst olive groves, the premises’ garden is full of flowers, fruit trees and cypresses, with stunning views over rolling hills and century-old hilltop villages. During the pitch dark starry nights, there is nothing but the sound of crickets. It all gives it an unmistakable Mediterranean feel.

As to the facilities: There is one apartment and one little bungalow, which we stayed in. It is comfortable, clean and has a small, but well equipped kitchen. Upon our arrival there were coffee, tea, milk and breakfast cereals enough for the whole of our stay.
The large garden has several shaded terraces and one bigger gazebo with outdoor kitchen. Enough spots to have your breakfast, dinner, or just sit, relax and sip lovely Tuscan wines…. The 14-meters-or-so swimming pool is big enough to do your laps each morning or simply cool off. As there are only two apartments for two persons each, we virtually had the pool to ourselves.

Our hosts, Angelo and Umberto, certainly know what hospitality is and did everything to make us feel at home. They provided information on the area, restaurants and maps and treated us on an occasional glass of wine. Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino and numerous charming little villages are close. If you are looking for an absolutely quiet, peaceful place in fantastic surroundings, while at the same time having enough interesting Tuscan sights within reach, this is an ideal place to stay. It was our intention to stay for a few nights, but after the first night we decided to prolong our stay as long as we could. Casina Valloreci is a beautiful place, with wonderful hosts, and we definitely will return.

If you read our friend’s review of Casina Valloreci, I’m the one who burst into tears. It is almost impossible to put into words how idyllic Casina Valloreci is – everything about our stay there exceeded my wildest dreams – and I had dreamed of going to Tuscany for a long time! Every direction you look is a picture-perfect view of the Tuscan countryside. And Casina Valloreci itself is quite simply paradise on earth – everything and more you could possibly imagine for a stay in Tuscany. Angelo and Elena are the most gracious and thoughtful hosts, and made us feel so welcome and at home. The two apartments are very lovely and extremely comfortable. The surrounding grounds are unbelievably beautiful – with so many inviting areas to relax or swim or enjoy a meal or a glass of wine.

There are several Tuscan towns such as Siena, Montepulciano, and Cortona that are easy day trips. Plus there are several very close-by small hilltop towns that are less touristy and full of charm and delicious places to eat.

When it came time for us leave Casina Valloreci and move on to the next leg of our trip, I must admit I cried again – because I didn’t want to leave. For my husband and I it is not a matter of if we make it back to Casina Valloreci, we will be back – because I left a piece of my heart there.

My wife and I spent a week at Casina Valloreci with one of our closest friends. We had hustled and bustled through Rome and Florence and soon were headed to Cinque Terre and Milan. The week in at Casina Valloreci was definitely the highlight of the places we stayed and offered a very necessary respite from the rest of our tour.

Angelo was the perfect host. He greeted us when we first arrived as though we were friends he had not seen in a long time. The accommodations, the grounds and the views from the hillside pool area and gazebo were breath taking. It was clear that Angelo and his sister Elena had taken much care, thought, time and expense to create such a beautiful and inviting atmosphere. The wife of the couple we were traveling with burst out in tears after Angelo's tour of the Casina. They had been dreaming about this vacation for a long, long time. She said it surpassed any expectation or dream she had, to which Angelo replied "you must embrace me," as he gave her a hug.

Our mornings (albeit late mornings) were spent touring some of the small Tuscan towns nearby, afternoons at the pool cooling off (June is rather warm) and evenings eating at one of the nearby (but not too close) restaurants or preparing our own Italian feast in the outdoor kitchen.

If we ever make it back to Italy, our first, and maybe only reservation, will be at Casina Valloreci. And this time we will be going back to see a dear friend.

Room Tip: There are only 2 rooms, either one is perfect. The one in the house is larger, the other is separat...

Linda and I spent one week of our four week vacation in Italy at Casina Valloreci and it was the highlight of our trip! Angelo opened his property to us as if we were long lost friends and directed us to the finest sights, restaurants, and local wineries--even lending us gallon jugs so we could fill them at the local winery and enjoy wines like a true Italian.

This centrally located retreat allowed us access to some of the finest locations for classic Tuscany pictures that wow our friends. After a hard day of picture taking and hill-top town visits, it was wonderful to feel real grass under our feet, enjoy the pool, and then be able to cook our own meal in the outdoor kitchen. The indoor kitchen was great for cooking our breakfast.

We both give Casina Valloreci our highest rating!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The first time I fell in love with this place was several years ago while watching the movie, "The English Patient." I loved these forests, cypress trees and valleys. I was impressed in particular by the Abbey where the movie was filmed, at Sant'Anna in Camprena. And now this movie is repeated for me every night, and every night is always more beautiful. I would like to share these feelings with you. ... more   less
