A friend's wedding brought me and about 27 other people to Terrie di Nano. From the moment we arrived (via bus from Rome) we ran about oohing and aah-ing and checking out everyone's rooms. Each room had something special and unique. Ours, luckily, had a fabulous blue-tiled bathtub that sat at the top of 7 majestic steps.

Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were wonderful with plenty of hot water. Breakfasts were standard with a change of fruits, meats and cheeses every morning. We ended up having a few meals at the villa; the first was a pizza party for the group which was wonderful. The next day everyone had been on their own, so those of us that went to Montipulciano went to the grocery store on the outskirts of town (it's called Conad) and got various items to bring back to the hotel. (if you do this, make sure you also visit some of the wonderful butcher shops in town to get meats and cheeses, then suppliement at the Conad) The deli counter there was fabulous: white anchovies, eggplant parmigiana, roasted artichokes, cheeses, cured meats, etc. We had a feast back at the hotel. The last night we sort of decided last minute that the group would eat at the villa and Giorgio and his crew amazingly whipped up dinner for 25: pasta, frittata, spinach, veal stew, etc. Delicious home cooking! Be sure to also pick up some of the wines at the villa, they are delicious.

For sightseeing, one of my friends and I walked to Montipulciano one day. It's about a 3 or so mile walk, mild hills with one incline that made me realize I need to hit the treadmill more. Remember, when you're there, most places close from 1-3 for lunch.

The other day we went to Pienza (by cab) and then to a wine tour at a very interesting and different local winery - Sanguinito. They are a tiny natural wine producer (they make it in the old way, without additives) and we had a wonderful time there learning about the wines, the process and eating some wild boar sausage.

On the day of the wedding, things couldn't be more perfect. Giorgio and Christina helped with the wedding dress and suits, making sure they were pressed and ready to go. The groom's ring needed to be sized and Giorgio helped find a nearby jeweler. They decorated the bride and groom's room as a surprise. THe ceremony was simple and lovely, overlooking the gorgeous scenery. The staff came to watch. Cocktail hour was also overlooking the scenery, with the added bonus of an insanely colorful sunset. We all brought ipods to supply the music. The food was to die for - lovely meats, cheeses and my fave, bacon wrapped prunes. The dinner was inside and each course was better than the next.

We truly had a memorable and wonderful and relaxing time.

Giorgio was incredibly helpful with all the little things that needed to be done. He called cabs, arranged times for pickups, researched wineries to visit, gave restaurant advice, made reservations. Sometimes he did seem a little annoyed; but there were almost 30 of us who all had different degrees of travel experience and comfortability, so we definitely were pains in the butt as a whole. But he was always kind and helpful and most of the time seemed to be having a good time himself.

This place was wonderful and I'd highly recommend it!

We had stayed in the Pienza/Montepulciano area a few years ago and wanted to visit the area again. We stayed in Il Torrino with fabulous views from every window. It could not have been more gorgeous. The Tuscan scenery was a joy every time we passed a window or stood gazing! The hotel has wonder Italian stone, beams - so much character. It was wonderful. Our little apartment was always spotless and housekeeping did their job each day while we were sightseeing. The shower had lots of hot water! Breakfast on the patio was very pleasant and the inside dining room was also very pleasant. We would certainly return for another visit if given the opportunity.

We were late booking so we stayed in one of the rooms of La Fornace. This worked well for us since we had been in Italy for a couple of weeks and wanted to be able to cook our own food if we wanted to.

TDN had the most expansive views and we really enjoyed watching the sun set and seeing the hills fade into deepening outlines each evening. You can see Pienza on one of the hillcrests and if you walk to the other side of TDN, you see Montepulciano on another.

TDN is on a 'white road' so you have to have a car to stay there, but you can walk to Montechiello from there which we did one day, having a very lovely long lunch at La Porta (recommended) before slowly making our way back.

We didn't get to use the pools since at approx 500m there was often a breeze that kept the temperature down, but the lower pool looked lovely.

Make sure you eat at TDN, we had a couple of lovely meals there (not necessarily that cheap but really tasty and worth it on the odd occasion) - you do need to book in advance. We had a couple of bottles of wine from the estate which we also enjoyed.

This place works well for families and larger groups who can stay in the villas and make best use of the facilities, maybe in August when the altitude of TDN would make the cooling winds very welcome. If you are the type of person who likes to eat out in the evening, have a bottle of wine and walk back to your hotel, this place is less well situated.

My husband and I stayed in the Maclura room for 4 nights. The room was spotless clean, so romantic and beautiful, and came with a wonderful large bathtub, which was such a bonus after 2 days of hardcore site-seeing in Florence. Giorgio and Christina were wonderful hosts. We had dinner on the property the first night, and it was one of the best meals we had in Tuscany. The breakfasts were great: lots of delicious things to choose from. Georgio's restaurant recommendations were great as well. We also really enjoyed the fact that TDN was out in the country, and we had to drive through the prettiest countryside to get to the nearby towns. The closest one, Montelcino, is only about a 10 minute drive away. We can't wait to come back!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!! Went in a group of 4, all from New York City and very successful--- which translates to very critical. This villa was something out of the ordinary. Heard about it through a friend of a friend who I traveled with--- did not disappoint!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa-- the bella vista. It was absolutely beautiful--- had a kitchen, living room--- wonderful. The estate has 2 pools, one is at the edge of a massive mountain and you can float at the edge of the pool and overlook a heavenly site.

Georgio, the property manager, is always available and helpful--- and provides wonderful dinners and breakfasts (and wine!--- its a vineyard)!

So far as beauty goes--- this place cannot be beat. Its something out of a movie--- a complete get away -- total opposite of city life.

The only thing I would ask for is air conditioning. There wasn't any and it got a little hot. So, if you're the type that likes to be cold when sleeping it can be tough to get a great night sleep--- but another couple we traveled with had no problem. Also, be careful driving to and from the property--- narrow and windy roads.

Overall, this place was a highlight of our trip--- highly recommend--- and would love to stay there again.
