I searched for weeks for the "perfect" Tuscan accommodation and when I finally stumbled upon TDN, I knew right away this is where I wanted to stay. Needless to say, my expectations were high after reading all of the reviews. WOW! It really was perfect - better than I had hoped.

The grounds, accommodations, location and hospitality were amazing. What a beautiful place! I was concerned that we would be too far from restaurants, etc. but that is not the case at all - there are so many wonderful restaurants within 10-15 minutes of TDN.

We arrived with an "agenda" of all we wanted to see and do while in Tuscany and it all flew out the window as soon as we settled in. All of a sudden we just wanted to spend time in the local area, enjoy the pool at TDN, have leisurely conversations with the other guests and RELAX! That's what we did and it was perfect.

We had dinner at TDN one night (pre-arranged with Giorgio) and we really enjoyed it. My husband is allergic to gluten and they were able to prepare gluten-free pasta for dinner (which was great!) and gluten-free baked goods for breakfast. What a treat!

If you are looking for the perfect, tranquil Tuscan escape...this is definitely it!! I hope to return some day...

We chose this hotel/estate because of the location and because we'd read many positive reviews. The location is really beautiful. It's up on the top of a hill and the view is beautiful, and the little village of Monticchiello is a quick drive and is tiny but adorable. Pienza and Montepulciano are both very close as well. The scenery in that part of Tuscany is lovely.

We wanted a double room, but they were all out when we called. Instead, the manager offered us a room in one of the independent houses. Normally they rent out the whole apartment as a unit, but he broke up the apartment and rented out the individual rooms. No one else ended up renting the other rooms, though, so we had the whole room to ourselves.

The room was quite lovely, and the bathroom was fine. I would have liked a bathtub, but I liked the look of the room with a shower better, and so chose looks over function :) The bed was very comfortable, and the bedding was lovely, and the towels plenty big and thick.

We never got a chance to try the pool, as they closed it up in the evening and we out and about during the day.

The breakfast spread was quite extensive, but nothing was particularly tasty. It's a communal table, though, and it was kind of nice to sit with the other guests and chat about what we were doing in the area.

The manager wasn't particularly friendly, but was helpful when we asked for help. He made restaurant reservations and helped us plan a driving route.

Although they say they're a working farm, and they do have olive trees and a vegetable garden, it's not really an aguriturismo. The owners are Dutch, and live in the Netherlands, and the manager doesn't really have much to do with the farming part of the place.

The worst thing about the place was that they told us they had internet access, but there was none in our apartment. We had to bring our laptop out to the courtyard to get wireless access, and it was quite cold sitting out in the courtyard at night in October!

Otherwise, however, the place was very nice. I'd definitely stay there again, and recommend it to friends.

It is hard to add a lot to the numerous glowing reviews about TDN. And, to be clear, the incredible reviews are deserved. TDN is just awesome in about every way. We stayed four nights in BARLETTAIA. The room is exactly as it appears on the website and the views looking up the drive and over the hills are really remarkable. Our room was huge, spotless, and very comfortable (soft bed with very nice linens, large towels, very hot water, etc.). The fire place was also nice! The grounds at TDN look like something out of a picture book. We spent one full afternoon just strolling around, sitting in the shade drinking wine, and enjoying the quiet and the views. TDN is a great place to relax but it also makes a great home base for seeing southern Tuscany. Many great destinations are less than an hour away (Cortona, Sienna, Montechino, etc). You won't have any problems seeing those and enjoying Montepulciano from TDN. A couple of recommendations (from Christina) for dinner in Montepulciano: La Grotta and Aquacheta. Both are fabulous! Enjoy TDN. You wont be disappointed.

My sister and I spent a fabulous week in La Casetta at Terre di Nano. The "little house" was perfect for the two of us with it's two bedrooms one and half baths, patio and kitchen. Giorgio and Christina welcomed us and treated us like family the entire week. The property is abosouletly gorgeous. Spring flowers in bloom, amazing views, great food, excellent service, and they make the best wine in all of Tuscany. Trust me we tried a lot of different varieties. The location could have not been more perfect to reach all of the beautiful surrounding hill towns. We had waited 9 years for this trip and I am so glad we found Terre di Nano to stay for the week (wish it had been two weeks or a month), everything about Terre di Nano made our trip the trip of a lifetime. We did not want to leave and are trying to figure out when we can return. I have been home less than a week and am trying to figure out how to return and live La Dolce Vita!

Our family stayed at Terre di Nano for four nights from Dec 21-25th. We could not have asked for a better location and a more perfect place to enjoy our international Christmas in Italy. We stayed in La Casetta which is a seperate cottage on the property. We arrived late in the day and Giorgio had a wonderful dinner prepared for us (even gluten free pasta for those of us with allergies) for our first night. He served us in our cottage and provided us with his own wine which was delicious. We woke the next morning to the most amazing views of the Tuscan countryside out our window. Rolling green hills, olive orchards, vineyards and the hilly, walled Tuscan towns of Monticello and Montepulciano. Spectacular views! Giorgio had explained that during the hoiday period there would be no servies at Terre di Nano, so I can't comment on housekeeping or cooking classes or the many other activities this agritourisimo usually provides..but what I can tell you is that Giorgio was a wonderful host and we would go back in an instance. The furnishings were clean and the beds were very comfortable with down comforters and fluffy pillows. La Casetta was a perfect set up for a family of five. Our Italy trip took us to Venice, Florence, Rome and Tuscany and Terre di Nano was the best of the best! Don't hesitate to stay here...it's a beautiful, peacful spot in a perfect location for exploring the best of what Tuscany has to offer!
