This review comes nearly 8 months too late, but our experience at La Bandita Townhouse remains one of the standout highlights of an unforgettable trip to Italy. Book here if you care about an experience that's equal parts style and substance; a well-considered space to come back to in the evening after exploring the Italy you imagined. Don't fret about trying to 'do everything' while in Tuscany. Hole yourself up here at La Bandita Townhouse and get to know Pienza, a small yet perfectly formed medieval village for a few days and experience Italy at her finest in an intimate and authentic way - we truly felt this was the 'most 'Italian' experience we had during a 4 week vacation. The only regret is not staying longer, though we had 4 glorious nights. Our top tip would be to do everything John has suggested in his guidebook - all the hard work has been done for you! Definitely do the walk and stay until you can until you get a reservation at Il Rosselini. During our trip, we ate at 3 Michelin Stars in Modena, and this little neighbourhood gem was a close second to this - an unforgettable night if you're good with going with the flow and just pray they went foraging for porcini that morning. Not to be outdone, the in-house La Bandita restaurant turns out some beautifully refined food and classics - you can't go past the mozarella and proscuitto starter. Everything else: the toiletries, the sheets, the decor, the mini bar and the flawless service was all welcomed and in line with their positioning of understated luxury. The real hero here is the countryside, but a stay here makes a tough job of actually leaving your room. We'll be back.

I'll add some specifics to the other reviews highly recommending La Bandita. Wonderful hot pressure rain shower in a large fully enclosed shower. Beautiful soap/shampoo, free wi-fi, extremely helpful staff, free laundry (dried my shoes after a day of rain), confirmed logistics of a separately scheduled wine tour unasked, cool cozy vibe to restaurant, delish complementary brkfast. Great bedding, beautiful decor.

Cannot be a bigger fan of La Bandita Townhouse. The hotel is flawlessly designed and operated. Upon arrival, you are welcomed by staff into what is a converted monastic building, aptly adorned with modern style. The rooms are wonderful and spacious, filled with surprises and luxuries that were unexpected, such as a heated floor, nice washing products, and well-styled towel heaters. Soft drinks are of no extra cost, which I always find to be a nice touch at a hotel. The shower has great pressure and plenty of space.

The bedroom is very chic and the bed is very comfortable. I took a liking to the color combination in the room, a very nice metallic gray and mustard yellow.

The restaurant was also very nice. The food was well prepared and the design was comfortable for dinner. Breakfast was included and was freshly prepared every morning.

La Bandita is a place I will definitely return to.

This hotel was absolutely perfect, and every detail was accounted for. Stylish modern rooms with a ridiculously comfy bed, and one of the most spacious bathrooms I have ever seen, along with towel heaters and a partially heated bathroom floor underneath the toilet. The hotel is immaculate and it has the perfect balance of elegance without being pretentious. Definitely check out John's record collection and read some of his books on the first floor, it adds to the uniqueness of this hotel. We were greeted by Simone and Martina, and they were unbelievably friendly, and made us feel right at home. Also a fantastic restaurant, the tiramasu is to die for. The town of Pienza is stunning beyond belief, and you truly feel as though you have stepped into a sanctuary. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. I never wanted to leave, and hopefully I will be back very soon.

We stayed at La Bandita during a Tuscan adventure this past summer, and the experience was amazing. We had started off our trip with a deeply unpleasant Airbnb experience that we had to abandon as soon as we got to the property. It was nearing nightfall and with no backup plan, we recalled reading about La Bandita Townhouse and its owners, John Voightman and Ondine Cohane. In a panic, we called the hotel and explained the situation. John graciously offered us a suite and told us to come right over. The old city of Pienza is stunning, and the staff at La Bandita is the epitome of warm and welcoming. Our suite was fantastic with plenty of room, clean and sleek furnishings, and a seriously enormous bathroom. A good shower and/or tub can make or break a room for me, and La Bandita Townhouse gets major points for both.

The hotel restaurant is great with yummy food - definitely check out the breakfast/brunch. John, Ondine, and the staff were readily available and helpful at all times including providing recommendations for restaurants in town, activities nearby, medical advice, and dealing with us accidentally setting off an emergency alarm in our room in the middle of the night. Everyone who works here is cool and calm about everything.

The decor is a great mix of modern with a bit of Tuscan rustic, and everything is SO clean! The library/common area is effortlessly cool and legit - obviously infused with the couple's great taste and John's impressive background as a music exec. Do check out the books and record collection! We had such a fabulous time here and have recommended this hotel to everyone we know going to Tuscany. We also visited La Bandita (in the country) which has such awe-inspiring views, and the same core concepts but in the Tuscan countryside. Swoon. They were full during the remainder of our trip, but we definitely plan on staying there during our next Tuscan jaunt.

Also, in general, check out Ondine's "36 Hours" in a whole slew of awesome places. The lady reaaaaally knows her stuff and gives an insider, rather than a typical tourist-y, scoop.

This place rules. John, Ondine, and crew rule. Tuscany is mind-blowing. Go and enjoy!

Room Tip: Our suite was great but the hotel really is boutique (12 rooms), so you really can't go wrong.

This hotel, in a picture-perfect Tuscan hill town, is flawless in every detail. The interior is incredibly chic and modern, but at the same time inviting and comfortable. As stated in other reviews, the staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful... Martina greeted us upon arrival as if we were old friends. There was always someone on hand to prepare a perfect cappuccino, arrange a winery tour or visit to the nearby spa, suggest the perfect little lunch spot, help with directions, make dinner reservations, or pour a glass of wine with a sampling of the local pecorino cheese for aperitivo. I highly recommend an extended stay at La Bandita Townhouse!

Room Tip: Room 10 was incredibly spacious and private. It overlooks the little main street for a glimpse into...
