My boyfriend and I went to Pienza last Thursday for a short trip. We wanted eat something of tipical (Pienza cheese and red wine). We found "La buca di Enea" on TripAdvisor. It's a very nice place: small, clean and welcoming. Even if it's small the place is very quite and silent, so it's possible enjoy the food in a very relaxing environment. We ate "the small mixed cheese tray" with jams, the grilled bread with dry tomatos and cheese and the grilled Pecorino with becon on top. All these dishes were delicious and very plentifulles! The owners are hospitables, kindes and discreetes: for example we choosed a bottle of wine that was runned out. The owner offered to us another one more expensive at the same price to solve the inconvenient. At the end of the lunch they offered to us a Limoncello. We spent totaly 47€.We advise this restourant to everybody whom want to eat tipical food in a very Tuscany place.

My husband and I wanted to stop somewhere for simply pecorino cheese tasting and wine. A lite difficult to find in the small town at 3:30 pm when most places are closed until dinner time. We asked around in every shop we passed along the Main Street. Finally someone recommended la buca di enea and we were welcomed sign open arms. The portions are huge and the wine glass full. We enjoyed a variety of cheese. The owner even brought out a bottle of limoncello and grappa for us to try. Overall amazing experience! Do not pass this by when visiting Pienza!

After looking for a good restaurante in Pienza, we decided to give it a try to La Buca di Enea. I must say it was definitely the right choice, because the food was really good and different from the "same-same" offer you can expect in Italian restaurantes.
This is a great spot to have nice platters of cheese and salami. The food is authentic and has that sense of home-cooking that will probably take you to some happy childhood memories at your granny's house.

This restaurant will be the most authentic/family meal you eat while in Tuscany. Luckily the owners of Agriturismo Creatiole sent us here the night before Easter (otherwise we wouldn't have gotten one of the few tables)- it's not fancy - it's simply a small local kitchen with great local food - every cheese you can imagine from the Tuscan area, delicious wild boar Tagliatelle (the best!), pici pasta and the owner bring out a selection of free dessert drinks after dinner. If you want to feel like you were invited to your long lost Italian family meal in a small town, this is it. No bells or whistles, but the real deal. The melted sheep cheese with bread at the beginning set the tone as did the by the class brunello and reasonable wine prices even for really good wines.
